Re: Michi's Game Collection - *UPDATE: Game Gear added*

by Michi Wed Feb 06, 2013 4:18 pm

Been busy constructing me some shelves for my room. Nothing fancy, just something to better fit up against my already existent wire cube structures.

On the first day, Dad was nice enough to help me cut the wood:

Then we drilled some holes and took a break.

Then the next two days were spent putting them together. Dad was nice enough to help me hold the boards in place while I screwed them together.

Also pictured: Garage fridge. Filled with extra soda, snacks and liquor.

The top rows are sized for CDs. All the rest are for DVDs (and Blurays.)

Now I've just got to pick up some stain tonight and add the backing. Yippee :)

Stainless steel fridge in the garage? That's awful fancy. Hold 25+ year old fridge not good enough for your garage? :P

^

My parents bought that fridge while I was away at college. When I came home they realized that it had been perfect for two people, but I guess it was too small for three. So they got a new fridge and relegated that smaller one to the garage.

We did have a really old one from the early 80's before we moved, but I don't know what happened to that thing. I'm sure it died when I wasn't looking. Or mom made dad get rid of it. That thing was nasty and falling apart.

Nice michi. I had been thinking about building a corner shelving at my house. This gives encouragement.

Hobie, lets do it!

Hey at least he isn't having you build baby furniture for Morgan. Or is he?

Do you have any other braces than the four screws in the edge? Its a curious idea, since everything is so light you could probably get by with very little in the way of actual support.

Haha nope, either bought or was handed down all of that.

Hobie does have the nice table and circular saw that comes in handy haha.

Good point. Might want some triangular or L brackets at least on the bottom back corners just to provide a little support to make sure they don't end up leaning to the side when the inevitable overflow starts getting stacked on top.

No. Other than some glue, it's just the screws. They're long screws, but considering I wasn't going to put anything too heavy in them dad and I figured it'd be okay.

Oh, no. There will be no overflow. As soon as that starts I'm putting the overflow on the floor (probably where my current stack is now) and building another shelf
