What Is Your Dream Game Controller?
Get mad, its fun!
Haha
lets weigh it out for the Dreamcast controller:
comfort +1
look +1
4 buttons on the face -1
short cord -1
cord on bottom -1
awful d-pad -1
pretty bad analog stick -1
one analog stick -1
VMU - 0 (it looked cool but was useless if you don't play sports games... the one point for look comes from the neat little VMU screen. As for the VMU's functionality... what is a great idea that is not properly executed?)
Anyone who thinks the DC controller was "the absolute best controller ever made" should put down the crackpipe, stop eating acid, and try out some other controllers from our decades of video gaming!

Since when did you become the authority on game controllers? Out of the 12 or so game systems I've had controllers for, the Dreamcast was my second favorite. My favorite is the 360 wireless. But you trashed the controller in the other topic, and I really hate how most of your problem with the DC controller is "It's bad because it doesn't fit my needs." You took points away from all catagories when I have no idea how you could have a problem, like the analog stick. I use that thing in NFL 2K2, and it feels comfortable where it's placed, and it's responsive. Ever play football on a dualshock? Not even close to as easy as a Dreamcast controller. And why discredit it for having four buttons? The gamecube had four face buttons, the PS2 had four face buttons, the same can be said for the Xbox (four actually usable ones). Fighters that require six buttons are dying a slow death, and none of the companies last generation were going to design a controller around that mold. Seriously, I wouldn't go around forums screaming my lungs out about the PS2 controller because they couldn't fatten up their proven design to hold two extra buttons that are used for what? A dozen or so games? You have to be kidding me.
It's not the best ever, but it certainly isn't the peice of trash you continually say it is.

I absolutely loved the SNES controller. Natural and simple, it just worked. I really like the feel of the dreamcast controller, with the double pistol grips, but the button layout is terrible. Id like it to be more refined.
Consoles Owned: Nintendo SNES, Nintendo GameBoy Color, Nintendo GBA, Sony PSX, PS2, PS3, Sega Master, Microsoft XBox
I had to join in on this discussion because I had dreams of what the Wii controller would end up being before it's release announcement.
Picture those old toys where you put your hand on one side and then metal rods would raise on the other side and you would see the hand again in metal form! Well, automate that and place it under a rubberized surface, each pin becomes a button and each game uses it's own control method, the controller literally shapes to the game. Keep in tilt control and probably add an analogue stick and you're all set. wouldn't be too bad either to implement the roll-up LCD screens that Samsung (i think) had been working on a few years ago. on the surface and then buttons could be viewed dynamically as well.
Yes it's a Wee bit ambitious but you did say "perfect"
The idea of having an adaptive controller is one that has always made me excited and what I loved about the past two generations and using expansion ports on the controller, having the ability to adapt the gaming experience.

A wireless lime green 360 controller with any conventional D-pad, possibly the snes'. Oh and white joysticks! And replace the yellow lights around the guide button with blue lights. That controller would be sick. Sort of.
I think the 360 controller is a very comfortable controller. I would say its my favorite becuase of the bumper buttons.

Now now, junior... anyone who has a Dreamcast knows there were more than a dozen fighters and smups released on that system. That 4 button layout and junk d-pad are inexcusable, especially when that large of a portion of your library basically requires both.
By the way, gamecube and ps2 sported junk controllers too, but at least they had 2 sticks and accomodated their library.
You have to be kidding me, wasting my time again with your fanboyism!
Happy silly talking to you
