I was born in 83 so the late 80s early 90s where my taste of the arcade. When it came to emulation my focus was always on consoles... what recommendations would you make or even articles/links do you think I should review for someone like me?
When I think arcade games that I played during my childhood these are what come to mind...

NBA Jam
Rampage
Street Fighter Series
Mortal Kombat Series
Tekken Series
Outrun

Find out whether any of your favourite console games aren't in fact ports of arcade games.
I used to not be able to tell the difference between arcade and SNES SF2, now I don't have the patience for any console ports of pretty much anything pre Dreamcast era.

I would go for games that never received a good, accurate console port:
Alien vs. Predator;
Battletoads;
Double Dragon II;
Double Dragon III;
Moonwalker;
The Ninja Warriors;
The Simpsons;
Spider Man;
Viper Phase 1;
X-Men; etc.

Mame can list the games out by year. You can easily try them out yourself, maybe discover games you have not played before in the process.

Forget NBA Jam, NBA Hangtime is a much better game and yet everyone has forgot it.

That's actually a sequel to the NBA Jam series if I'm correct. I'll check it out.
