Which website do you guys use now to download older games?

Post by jfrost »

Since Underground Gamer is no more, what do you guys use?

I wanted to download some PlayStation RPGs to play on the iPad, but soon found the task harder than expected.

I've seen some people saying they use Blackcats Games, but I don't have an invite so I'm stuck.

So like you're looking for an old warez console/handheld game site basically? I know there are some places that host roms carry a lot of PS1 games.

try snesorama, or just pain ol' google. I was pleasantly surprised of the few i've been able to find. Still hoping for UG to rise from the grave.

No specific one site anymore; My first try is Piratebay since DDL is painfully slow for large files on hosting sites. Post-Demonoid&UG it seems to do the trick. Google will point you to most of the direct-download/file hosting listing sites - the mainstays were mentioned, tho I've found others. Despite several trusted sources being shut down recently, I can't say I've been hard-pressed to find any particular game for any system - even rare/unknown ones. There are still plenty of sources for the trusted ROM/ISO collections (TOSEC, Redump, Darkwater, etc..) if you dig through the usual traps on Google.
I've read that Android OS has a rom/iso downloader app that apparently does the trick - is there anything like that for the jailbroken apple devices?

I didn't know we could list rom sites. Rom Hustler (google for domain) has a heap of PS1 downloads among other stuff, lots of standard and less than standard systems too. I really question how it has stayed online as long as it has due to that.

Well, I can do torrent and sort with iFile.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!

I just use emuparadise.org with TORBrowser and Peerblock in place. Haven't had a problem with finding a game I wanted or intrusions/hacks.

Demonoid's back fyi, and your old login/pass works just fine, but it's not well known that it's back so the traction isn't there yet.

Pleasuredome.org.uk (I swear it's not a porn site) is the last great semi-private tracker for games, IMO. Just watch your ratio and don't get too outspoken in the forums, they do have a track record of being a little happy with the banhammer.

But mainly, I use my NAS. Got basically everything I was likely to want before we lost BG and UG... I got accounts on Blackcat and Gazelle back when UG went down and they took pity on us lost souls, but never ended up using them. I have ~6tb of games hanging out already, in addition to 800+ physical games, it's a rarity I go looking for something these days.
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed
