MAME On Softmodded Wii

Post by Frag Mortuus »

Hey Guys,

I have a softmodded Wii that I would like to get MAME running on. Now, I haven't tried, but in the past trying to get MAME running on my PC has been terrible. From what I can tell you have to have specific versions of ROMs that work with specific versions of the MAME software, etc.

Is this true for the Wii version as well? If so, can someone point me to a good FAQ that deals specifically with MAME on a softmodded Wii?

Thanks!

MAME on the Wii sucks, to put it bluntly.
If you're only looking to play really old arcade games then it's fun enough to screw around with...

Retroarch handles Cps1/2 and Neo Geo stuff pretty well, but it can't load Neo Geo ROMs that are larger than 23 MBs (a lot of the later titles)

Ive only played a few games on MAME for my Wii, but i can confirm that TMNT, The Simpsons, and Cadillacs &Dinosaurs works.

I also used Retroarch, but have only used it to play 1 game, Alien Vs Predator Arcade 3 player, because you need to use the Capcom CPS1 or CPS2 core.

You're better off trying to get it working on your PC. If you need help, I'm sure one of us can assist you.

Ellert is right though, Mame on Wii is pretty terrible.

Retroarch running arcade games on the Wii is quite impressive though:

Or you can go with a direct version of Final Burn:

Though, as the others have said, you are playing Final Burn compatible games so mostly CPS1/2 and small Neogeo games.
