I'm tempted to play around with it, but my artistic skill is almost nonexistant.

cool idea! Problem to me though are those new graphics look hella ugly compared to the originals. :?

Lol ya, but you know - proof of concept and tools are there. I mostly wanted to help publicize it so a driven, talented artist takes notice. If I had more time and motivation I'd start copying and pasting Castlevania SOTN graphics into the Castlevania games or some such thing.
Imagine if the programmer put a bit of scripting to allow the solid background color to be replaced with a full screen sized animation and also had that background changeable based on an internal hex address (level #). A lot of possibilities!
