Genesis Plus GX & Light Guns

by LentFilms Thu Jan 16, 2014 1:37 pm

Figured I'd make a thread talking about this, since I just recently started taking advantage of this.

For those who don't know, Genesis Plus GX is a SG-1000/Master System/Game Gear/Genesis/Sega CD emulator on the Wii (which is also the most accurate Sega emulator out there). One of its features is the ability to use the Konami Justifier, Sega Menacer and Sega Light Phaser light guns, all emulated using the Wiimote. As you would imagine, this works incredibly well!

Genesis Plus GX is able to auto mount the light gun to the correct ports when it detects a game that's making a system call to utilize it.

The light gun can also be set to display a cross-air, for easier aiming on the Wii,

though this can be toggled off and on in the control settings.

Master System also works the same way, just load up a game that requires a light gun and use the wiimote with ease,

This is especially useful for people that don't have a CRT TV, since old light guns can only work in conjunction with them.

(NOTE: You can assign the light gun to work with something other then the Wiimote, though it doesn't make much sense to do so.)

Figured I'd make a thread for this here on Racketboy, since I know many here would be interested.

This is too cool. I'm going to give this a shot when I have cleared my agenda a little bit.

I prefer the Nyko Perfect Shot. I like this even more than the official Nintendo Wii Zapper.

I have shot many a zombie using this little wonder. The textured grip feels perfect in your hand. The weight is just right. There's a pass-through port on the bottom of the handle in case you need to plug in a nunchuck or other controller. I usually find wiimote controller shells pointless, but I love this one.

One note: in case you buy a used one, make sure to get one with that orange bar intact. I bought a second Nyko Perfect Shot at Gameplop. I didn't notice at the time that the orange bar was missing. This seemingly superfluous bit of plastic is vital to the functionality of the accessory.

Yeah I like the perfect shot as well. I bought 2 for some co-op player but 1 ended up being defective :P.

You can also emulate the NES Zapper in FCEUX for Wii to play things like Duck Hunt with the Wiimote.
