How to use Xbox 360 controller on Mame?

I use the madcatz wired 360 controller, so it may differ from the official controller. Also, I am using MameUI, so that may also cause some differing. But, since this could possibly help, I'll post it anyways.

When I plug the controller in, it automatically downloaded the driver for it. Then, I opened up Mame, opened a game, and pressed "tab" to enter the menu. From there, I just went into configuration (General Config iirc), and when setting each button Mame already recognized the controller. So, I just set "Down" to down on the D-Pad, Button 1 to A, and so forth. You'll also want to go into the config menu at the bottom of the list of configs, so that you can set player 1 start and insert coin.

If this doesn't work, hopefully someone that uses the same controller or Mame build as you will chime in and help.
