Depends on the games you want to play. Any specific titles for the SNES?
Re: Best Way to Emulate with a Handheld Device?
The GBA emulates NES games fairly well. The PSP emulates almost every 2D system fairly well. The key is to keep ajusting settings for each game. Some games run better than others. My advice is to buy a small laptop if you want perfect emulation. PC emulates the best and is updated more frequently than portable syatems.

The PSP emulates just about every pre-N64 system perfectly. I have one and the biggest issue I've ever had with it is getting the programs themselves running, there tends to be a lot of fiddling around on the PSP itself to do that, though once they run they run perfectly.
However if you're patient, and have some extra money, you could wait for the pandora to come out. It's going to be an epic handheld specifically designed for emulation and when it comes out, hopefully late this year, it's going to be blowing minds. You can read all about it at openpandora.org.
Those are the two best ways in my opinion. The PSP is the simpler, cheaper and more obvious choice but the pandora is the more burly one that will make all your friends weep tears of jealousy.

I've got mine preordered. It is probably your best bet for emulation on the go. If it gives you any idea, they already have pretty good PS1 emulation and Quake 3 running, and the device isn't even released yet.Lokkenjawnz wrote:However if you're patient, and have some extra money, you could wait for the pandora to come out. Go for the Wiz, successor to the GP2X which emulated the SNES rather well. Don't bother with Pandora. It most likely will not come out and if it did it would be impossible to get a hold of.

I use a Gp2X. It emulates the NES, Master System, Pc Engine perfectly. Megadrive/Genesis emulation is practically perfect - including Virtua Racing. SNES emulation is great as long as you overclock a little (just choose it from a menu), except for a few games: Super Mario RPG and the SuperFX games. It even plays NeoGeo games rather well.
The GP2X also has quite a large screen, uses cheap SD cards (so buying/carrying extras is not a problem) and uses 2 standard AA batteries which makes it ideal for long trips when you would have no chance of recharging an inbuilt battery. It also plays most AVI files without need to reincode, although it does drain the batteries exceptionally fast when doing that. It also hooks up to a TV with S-Video.
I love my GP2X...

Mostly harmless

I use a green GBA Micro with the SD advance card in it. It is so damn small and can emulate NES, MasterSystem/GameGear, Gameboy and TurboGrafx16 to a pretty good standard. That and the fact that you get all the remakes for GBA. It's not the most powerful, but unlike the others mentioned it can slide into your pocket next to your phone where you can forget about it till your waiting for a bus or having a dump in a public toilet (we've all been there!).
I would not reccommend the SD Advance as it has some major slowdown issues!
