It was really shitty when Nintendo did it here with the... DSi and the various 3DS models I think it was, as those used Nintendo's own proprietary AC adapter plugs and not USB cables.

But yeah, with these mini consoles, usually they only need whatever the standard volts that any normal phone or tablet adaptor uses. We've got a handful in my house, more than we have devices, as companies used to always ship them with everything. I can understand it from a cost-saving perspective to be honest, since a lot of people have loads lying around their houses.

Are there any glaring, notable PS1 titles that aren't available for DL on Vita or PS3?

Maybe that would be a draw? I've been looking for an excuse to get a Vita for years.... Maybe if all these games are on Vita PSN, I jump.

Tons. The King’s Field series and Silent Bomber spring to mind immediately.

It'll be interesting to compare the final list of 20 on PS Classic to PSN availability.

Then add up those a la carte PSN prices.

[ADD]

Worth noting Tekken 3 is not currently an available PSOne Classic. List:

The other 3 games listed currently are $6 each and FF7 for $10.

I'm more trying to think are there games that they could throw on it that I don't have access to on my ps3/ps4. Throw on Einhander and Gex 3 maybe, but I don't even know if anyone still owns the rights to Gex :P Well, if they put Lunar 1 & 2 on it, I would throw my money at them, but I don't think I'm their targeted market :P

Okay... we know these 5:
Final Fantasy 7
Ridge Racer Type 4
Wild Arms
Jumping Flash
Tekken 3

Here's an educated guess at the other 15 we'll see (not my "wish" list):
Metal Gear Solid
Gran Turismo
Syphon Filter
Crash Bandicoot
Crash Team Racing
Tomb Raider
Resident Evil 2
Silent Hill
Jet Moto
Spyro
PaRappa the Rapper
Twisted Metal
Tony Hawk Pro Skater
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
Rayman

[Edit/Add: I left off a huge one... SoTN. I imagine it'll be on there. Likely bumping one of my predictions above.]

Obviously some of the sequels could go either way. We may see some more RPGs, but with the original 5 shown having 2 RPGs, I am curious if they add more. The Japanese market will have more RPGs is my guess.

I'd love to see DOOM, Quake 2, or Duke to cover the FPS genre but I don't think it'll happen. I have most genres covered other than FPS.

Think I missed any big ones?

Good list. Due to licensing issues, I would be very surprised if Gran Turismo and THPS were included. I also would not be shocked if “M” rated titles, like Resident Evil 2, were not included so that the console has broader appeal.

True. The licenses could hold those 2 up. Does Ridge Racer not use real car names?

We discussed M rated games a few pages back. The first Syphon Filter is rated teen. Good there. After thinking on it ... Can you have a PS classic without Metal Gear? I don't think you can. That alone would generate so much negative press. If you have 1 M rated game, it blows it wide open for RE & SH games. I like the parental PIN idea for M titles.

hmmm.... after some though I left off 2D fighter although the system wasn't know for it. Will we see a MK or SF game?

Also... if they're going for mass appeal we might see more 2D and 3D platformers other than Rayman, Jumping Flash, Spyro, & Crash. Some wildcards...
Gex
Gex Enter the Gecko
Tomba!
Croc
Klanoa
Mega Man X games
Lomax (too cult classic)

I've been thinking a bit but still don't want to make a list at this point (and no time either right now.) But in an odd way I think we can figure out kind of what the list should fairly well look like and not from the 5 of 20 given from both the games there, but also knowing who is happy to license to other big fish, ie: Nintendo. Konami, Capcom, Square-Enix, Tecmo, Namco, companies like those are happy to have their stuff on those boxes.

We know these: Final Fantasy VII, Tekken 3, R4: Ridge Racer Type 4, Jumping Flash, and Wild Arms. You have a few Sony published games, Namco and Square there. We know the analog controls are out excluding Ape Escape and some others after that point.

I could see another fighting game make it, perhaps something from Capcom, and them not doing Mega Man Legends would be kind of weird as it's a popular safe fit, but I think they'd likely not do Resident Evil as they're kind of busy remastering those for full price right now. Konami is also Hudson, so you have choices with Castlevania, Bomberman, and other stuff. Namco with RR4 there is smart, but Klonoa was huge for that period so why not? Sony had a hand in peddling but not making it, but Tomba is very popular and would work in such a setup. Since there is annoyingly FF7 on there, but another thing absent, perhaps one of the Dragon Quest games may occur, or if not that, perhaps something off beat like Brave Fencer Musashi? Even at 20 games you could easily round out something nicely that isn't lacking.
