XBOX BC - Xbox One backwards compatible collecting guide WIP

Post by noiseredux »

Hello. A while back I had started a bit of a checklist of sorts for original Xbox and Xbox 360 physical releases that had been made backwards compatible on Xbox One. Over time I felt that this would be nicer as more than just a list of titles, so I've started working on compiling a sort of guide to collecting these backwards compatible releases.

So here: https://xboxbc.weebly.com/

Now, please remember that this is the early stage of a total work in progress. So really I'm just trying to give you guys an idea of what it will become. I'm not even sure that the barebones list is 100% complete yet, but I'll continue to tweak and flesh things out as I find time to do so.

In the games list you'll find that there are actual entries for Catherine and Ducktales Remastered so far to give you an idea of what I'm going for.

added Saints Row: The Third. Also added Konami Classics Vol. 1, as today Super Contra is BC so now all three games on that disc work.

Great list - i've been happy to see them still add big games. Every once in a while I'll find a game i bought on sale on 360 for the express purpose of betting on them making it BC (Saints Row 3rd was one).

THE BELOW LIST IS NOT 100% UP TO DATE, but I am working on this guide and actually plan to make it much more in-depth... but for now I need some help to confirm a few things for sure. Mainly, I have a list of 360 compilations that I'd like someone to pop into their Xbox One and tell me a concrete yes/no on if they work or not:

Capcom Digital - Final Fight Double Impact, Flock, Commando 3

Dreamcast Collection - Crazy Taxi, Sega Bass Fishing, Sonic Adventure

Far Cry Compilation - Far Cry 3, Blood Dragon

Konami Arcade Classics Vol 1 - Castlevania SOTN, Frogger, Super Contra

Konami Arcade Classics Vol 2 - Contra

Namco Museum Virtual Arcade (?) - Dig Dug, Galaga, Galaga Legions, Mr Driller Online, Ms Pac-man, New Rally-X, Pac-Man

NBA Jam: On Fire Edition

Popcap Arcade Vol 1 - Astropop, Bejeweled 2, Feeding Frenzy, Zuma

Popcap Arcade Vol 2 - Feeding Frenzy 2, Heavy Weapon, Peggle, Plants Vs Zombies

Qubed - Every Extend Extra Extreme, Lumines Live

Triple Pack - Beyond Good & Evil HD, Outland

Triple Pack - Limbo, Splosion Man, Trials HD

XBLA Compilation Disc - Boom Boom Rocket, Feeding Frenzy, Luxor 2

XBLA Game Pack - Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2, Lumines Live

XBLA Unplugged Vol 1 - Bejeweled 2, Geometry Wars Retro Evolved, Hardwood Backgammon, Texas Hold Em

...it would be a huge huge help to my project here if I could get absolutely certain answer on whether or not the physical discs I've listed here actually work in an Xbox One. THANK YOU!!

I tested the following myself. As per below, on both my Xbox One and my Xbox 360. My consoles and Discs are PAL just for reference (though as far as I know the BC is the same as the game files themselves are identical, it is just a region check).

Dreamcast Collection
Crazy Taxi - Yes
Sega Bass Fishing - Yes
Sonic Adventure - Yes
Space Chanell 5 Part 2 - No

Capcom Digital Collection
Flock - Yes
Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 - Yes
WOTB: Commando 3 - Yes
Final Fight Double Impact - Yes
Street Fighter II HD Remix - No
Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix - No

Xbox Live Arcade - Compilation Disc
Feeding Frenzy - Yes
Boom Boom Rocket - Yes
Pacman Championship Edition - Yes* This was not on your list
Luxor 2 - Yes
Uno - No

XBLA Unplugged Vol 1
Bejeweled 2 - Yes
Geometry Wars Retro Evolved - Yes
Hardwood Backgammon - Yes
Texas Hold Em - Yes

Sega Megadrive / Genesis Ultimate Collection
Not compatible

I think the conclusion I have come to is this, if the disc originally was created in way that you can view the individual games on your Xbox 360 in the games tab, then they will appear and work on the Xbox One (providing they are backwards compatible), this held true for all of the above and is the reason I included the Genesis Collection data.

So if you own these compilations and a 360, but not a Xbox One and wanted to test them out, I think you could say with almost certainty that they would work on the Xbox one following the above.

Thank you!

That was my thesis as well, but wanted to confirm.

hey dudes, I have a couple other games I could use some help confirming on...

I know that Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition is BC, but I want to confirm what happens when you put the physical disc of Ultra Street Fighter IV into the Xbox One. I'm almost certain that the Ultra disc is just treated as SSF4:AE with additional DLC. But I'd really like to confirm. Similarly, I need to know if the plain old Super Street Fighter IV (non-Arcade Edition) is also bc. Again, I'd guess that it is but want to be sure.

Also, Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST are both BC. That said, my copy of ODST is missing the 2nd disc which is the Halo 3: Multiplayer disc. Can anyone confirm for me if that physical disc is playable on Xbox One? (Is the MP server still up for Halo 3 anyway?)
