A surprising amount of PAL PS2 games have 50/60hz selectors built in. The ones I mentioned do. For example with Michigan, the first screen will be scrolling for NTSC users. This is the language selection. Press X for English, the next screen is your 50/60 selector. Simply press down 1 time, then X for NTSC. Piece of cake.

Most games will "remember" the 60hz setting thru the game save file.

For PS1/PS2 games that are 50hz only, look in the Guides section of the Forum.

@ ninjainspandex - Do you plan on going the HDAdvance/HDLoader or FMCB later on? Do it, the games load soooo much faster. Oh and there is a Guide for that too linked in my signature.

KOFXI on the PS2 - the Japanese version has 480p progressive scan, which is worth the price to me.

Super Robot Wars games, Another Century Episode games, and Namco X Capcom. Yeah there's a lot of Japanese text, but I've always had fun with them regardless.

Sengoku Basara 2 and Sengoku Basara 2: Heroes are still my favorite Dynasty Warriors clones.

Sega Ages Dynamite Deka and Fantasy Zone Collection are very much on my want list.

In this one's case, there is an English fan translation:

It is more likely to work on HDTVs, but I'm not sure of the success rate.

At best you could be lucky enough to discover support not mentioned in the manual.
At worst the set will freak out or toss some kind of error.
Lum fan.
