BGR claims that the PS4 will support the 4K resolution, which is insanely high. Could one even see the jaggies, whether AA was on or not? Anyway, it's nice to hear some good news about the PS4 for once as opposed to that no-used-games stuff.

4K is insanely high? Not really. LG is already on 8K and higher stuff. Other companies are making other stuff.
Besides, Sony has 4K projectors, 4K TVs coming, and BR+++ (or whatever 4K video discs will be called) so it makes sense for the multimedia aspect Sony does to match their next line up.

So we can expect Sony to set a high price again and still lose money on every console. That's nice and all. I will certainly buy their next console, but I would rather not see them put themselves out of business.

It seems pretty high to me... I'm still using 720p.

I know what you mean though (I'm on 720p as well).
An interesting read or 2~

Meh. I'd rather have two threads. The other one is so negative.

Well the point of that thread was to collect news/discussion on the PS4 (whether positive or negative). It is only a few months old. Should we have a "Hooray PS4!" and a "Fuck the PS4!" thread? Seems silly to me...

It might support it as an output resolution, but I kinda doubt it'd support it as a native rendering resolution. Probably a lot more that they're building support in so that media files of that resolution could be played, for the relative few who have 4k displays. There's next to no content available for it yet, but as future proofing it'd be good.

That aside, it's not unheard of anyway. 4K is actually 3840x2160. Eyefinity setups and the like on the PC can exceed the pixel count (a single 30" monitor tends to be 2560x1600, and you can put six of them together last I heard). What makes me skeptical that the PS4 would natively render games at that resolution is that a single 30" monitor makes for a much more strenuous display to drive, much less 3, 5, 6, or whatever of them. It's the kind of thing that makes you realize what the point of triple GPU systems and the like are for.
I doubt Sony will be able to pack that kind of power into the PS4 and still sell it for a reasonable cost - or that they'd feel it worth it to do so for the tiny minority that'd even be able to utilize it.

Jaggies would probably depend on the DPI of the monitor though, if they did
