I have been thinking about getting a new 360 controller and wanted to know if anyone has tried out the one with the transforming dpad.

I hate the standard dpad, and was thinking about getting one of those street fighter 4 controllers that looks a bit like the old saturn pad, but i thought this new one might be a better choice since id be able to use it for normal games.

Is the new controller any better for 2d fighters and 2d xbox live arcade games?

I haven't heard anything about it -- must be the high price. Too bad they bundled it with the recharger, that needlessly drove it way past "affordable."

Here's the controller I've had my eye on ever since buying Super Street Fighter IV this month:

The Hori EX 2. Officially licensed from Microsoft, cross-shaped D-pad (a must!), and six face buttons, as well as the traditional four shoulder. It looks amazing. Biggest complaint anyone has is it's corded (I could use a corded gamepad anyway), and that turbo has problems. But turbo holds no interest for me, I just want a decent D-pad.

I've been waiting for someone to comment on the new D-Pad myself.

If that were a functioning controller, I'd use it and it alone. I'd find ways to adapt it to every console on earth.

Wow that does look pretty good, hadn't even heard of it.

I was thinking of one of these.

Then again i may just start buying all my fighters for PS3 cause i have no problem with that dpad, but i have Mark of Wolves and its atrocious on the standard pad.

I have been curious about this update. I was having big trouble with the old on playing 2d platformers.
