Launch day 360 just RRoD
Launch day 360 just RRoD
My launch day 360 that i spent all night camped out at gamestop to get just RRoD on me about an hour ago....I know it is not an isolated incident ,but this just made me very sad. Now the question is...Should i buy a new 360? I have a PS3, but only 4-5 games for it as opposed to 30ish games for my 360 that are now worthless....I just want some opinions.

Re: Launch day 360 just RRoD
Xbox 360's have come a long way since launch day. Granted, that path was far too long, but I'd say we're nearing the end of it. The end of it being a good, working Xbox 360, that is. Though I do realize that video gaming will be reaching its 8th generation soon...
Anyway, If you get a new Xbox 360, there's really no reason for you to have anything go wrong with it. Seeing as how your last one survived so long, I'm sure you know how to treat one right. Even with the first revisions to the Xbox 360, the rrod should have been fixed. Now after a couple more revisions, with the lower power consumption leading to lower heat and the graphics gpu being attached to the motherboard in a way that it's removal due to heat should be all but impossible, new Xbox 360's are, for once, not a rip off.
Only after I typed all this did I realize that I wasn't sure what reason you had in mind when posting this topic. Were you not sure if rrod was still a problem? Or were you just wondering if you should just stay on your PS3 and not worry about buying another Xbox 360? hah.

Oh. I read your post again. hahaha.
Opinions...
Yeah, I'd buy another Xbox, but probably because that's the system I own. In other words, it's a biased decision for me. Still, I like the xbox exclusives and xbox live, even if you have to pay for it.

Get another xbox, there's no way you'd get a worthwhile amount of money out of selling those games.
Re: Launch day 360 just RRoD
If you consider that you'd miss Xbox live, then you should by all means buy another xbox. BUT, if you wouldn't miss it all that much, then I would think that you've got a very capable replacement already in the PS3.
If you are concerned about getting rid of the "useless' Xbox games, consider using Goozex to trade your Xbox games for PS3 games. If you don't already have a Goozex account you can use my SN during the registration there to receive a free trade credit.

Too bad this didn't happen to you a couple weeks ago - you could have picked up a brand new 360 Arcade at Walmart and received a $100 gift card with it.

what is so upsetting?
If I was you I would be jumping in excitement
Launch day 360 that RRODed just now? You might get in guinness. Most people don't survive 6-12 months.
Unless you didn't play those games, or you like 360 in particular, most games are shared between those two consoles.

I have a launch day 360 and it's still kicking. In fact It's running right now.
If you enjoy xbox live then I'd say get another one, try and fix your old one and sell it, you might even get enough money towards a a couple new games by selling it as spares/repairs. PSN just isn't a valid replacement for xbox live, even if it is free.
