Still, I frequent A LOT of game forums on the net and read a lot of stuff. The ratio of 360 failures to PS3 failures is not nearly as close as that first article says it is.

I have read that the PS3's YLOD was first noticed in PAL consoles and they are more likely to get it. I don't KNOW though, just saying what I read.

In my personal experience with both systems, I can say that the PS3 stays much cooler than the 360. I used both in the vertical position in the exact same spot, and when I touch the PS3 after an hour or so of gaming it feels slightly warm where the power supply is located, but nowhere else. With the 360 it was very warm all over. Vertical being slightly better then horizontal, but both positions pretty damn hot.

I think something is seriously flawed in the 360's cooling system. Seriously where is the air supposed to go in that thing? The PS3's system though is quite amazing and it feels like they put some real thought into it. The front vent, side vent and 2 VERY powerful fans(I swear they put out more air than the 120mm fans in my PC) gets stuff moving quite nicely. The only thing I don't like about it is how loud those 2 fans are. When they kick on, your going to fucking know it, but if thats what it takes to make a more reliable console then so be it.

Hearing stuff like this makes me sick - Microsoft lost me as a gamer over this debacle. 4 Xbox 360's that all RR's, then the DVD drive went in the last one and they wanted $180 to fix it. I had over 20 games...what a shame.

I sold everything and bought the 80gb PS3 when it was still $499 and I hope and pray that thing never dies.

I guess I'm lucky but my 360 is still kicking strong since launch, never had a single problem with it.

i really try not to think of any of my consoles dying, even though it seems like it will inevitably happen. I continue to play them whenever and however I want, and i figure when they die, I will worry about it then. I only have 20+ other consoles to console me.

That sucks. I'm on my second one. My new one is much quieter and cooler. I hope it doesn't screw up. The RROD sucks but I still everything the 360 has to offer. Hard to believe they haven't redesigned the whole system by now.
