SNES with amiga RGB monitor port

Post by SnowKitty »

here's a neat little mod i did to a snes i own. i installed a DB23 connector so i can use my amiga's monitor cable instead of having to hack together a cord from a snes AV cable. i cut a hole in the back of the top half of the case, glued the connector in place and soldered wires to the RGB lines on the mainboard. i also had to put 3 filter capacitors in it. i get sound thru the regular AV cable. it looks great thru RGB :D

yep :D the picture quality makes up for the small screen size. i'd take 14 inch RGB over 25 inch S-video any day

I wish they'd start selling HDTVs with RGB built in here in the USA.

God damn them!!!!!!

I'm thinking about buying one of these as they are coming down in price

http://www.cypuk.com/cyp_techpage.php?p ... 80&&parent

it converts the RGB lines of a Scart cable to HDMI at 720p (some picture quality loss, but it is a gain over S-vid or RCA if you don't have access to RGB)

screw it... just found one on ebay for a good price... IT'S MINE!

That's pretty awesome, snow. I've always been fascinated by hacking video output of older consoles. For example, the Neo Geos they sell with component out. I wonder how doable that would be for a guy like me with limited soldering experience with varying success. Screwing up an AES is a whole different level than a PSone! Hey duct, how much are those converters? I'm on my crippled internet connection at the office and can't really search.

True, but you are using RGB which is what is available in SCART and why people love it so much.
