SNES_is_the_Best wrote:Nevertheless, if there was anyone on the fence about ditching their original model for a newer model, then maybe my post will help them to decide to mod their old SHVC-CPU-01 (or SNS-CPU-GPM-01) for component video and forget about buying the 1CHIP/Mini. They are not worth it.

Seriously? The SNES mini has fantastic RGB output, and this is using an RGB monitor and not some converter.

I can see you did not read (or carefully read) my entire post(s). I gave far more reasons than the filter. Taking that 1 thing I said out of a large amount of detailed context is very disrespectful.

I'm not here to argue. I gave the facts for a reason, so that you can decide. I don't see why this is so hard to understand. What do you want me to do, re-state all the facts on why the SHVC-CPU-01 has the best RGB output and no glitches? No thanks. And by the way, I'm not trying to toot my own horn here, but I've done extensive tests, extensive comparisons, extensive research, with virtually all revisions of the SNES (except for the SNS-CPU-GPM which I don't own) otherwise I would have NEVER made those posts. So if you want inaccurate, problematic substitutes, that's your choice. I'm not interested in debating.

theclaw wrote:I suppose that's a question of how much user laziness to account for.

The nearer serious enthusiasts can get to unfiltered video, the more freedom they'll have getting the exact smoothness they want.

I'm not sure if your calling me lazy or un-serious. I stated before that the facts I posted was for purists - ie; those who want to view the games the way they were intended to be viewed. That's where I stand, on the foundation of 100% accuracy. I'm not trying to force anyone to ditch their 1CHIP/Mini/Emulator/Whatever revisions. That's was not my intentions and I made that very clear. They can have the most sharpened, jaggiest, brightest, inaccurate SNES's in the world for all I care. I don't have a problem with that at all.

I never said that. I'm speaking in favor of users knowledgeable enough to decide themselves what looks best for their intentions. What if anything developers may or may not have believed is irrelevant to my stance on the matter.

I read your entire posts, I pointed that out as it stood out the most for me. There was no disrespect intended and I think you're being unnecessarily hostile. This is seriously the first time I've ever heard about this and I've never seen it documented anywhere.

But where's the proof? Again, this is all completely new to me and I've never seen this information on say NESdev or the SHMUPS forum, or anywhere else.

Where is all of that documented? Do you have a website with all this or posts on another forum documenting this?

It's clear that you do seeing as how you greatly exaggerate the problems with the 1chip and mini consoles. Heck, that statement before kinda contradicts what I have bolded. I've known for years that the PPU in those systems is slightly glitchy compared to the original consoles, but most of the games that are glitchy on that PPU are games that I have no inclination to play or games that aren't really worth playing to begin with (like A.S.P. which is pretty crappy).

I'm assuming byuu, so I'd guess on his homepage or forum.

My post has been edited. I'm no longer using any hypotheticals. Just facts.

My apologies for sounding hostile. It was late, I was tired, and I really didn't mean to sound so abrasive. Its just that your post came across as rude. Again, my apologies.

What exactly do you need proof for? Lets quickly examine the following facts I presented.

- Cheap, Apparently operates like a clone device - This is well documented by Byuu.

Cut him some slack. That type of one size fits all idealism is not the answer.

TV specifications vary. Image levels who look best for your display may not be exactly best for mine.

I went easy on him and was plenty nice. I never told him "you must use the SHVC or die!".
