What does adding RGB to an SNES mini have to do with this?

IIRC sync on composite video vs separately, affects some devices.

I picked up another SNES console today, presumably dead. (we will see shortly) It has this particular encoder:

S-ENC
Nintendo
S 9249 B

Anyone know if this is the same as the 6592f or the 6594af or even another variation?

I still have my SNES taken apart. I haven't had time to work on this mod in a while (since the last time I posted in this thread). I'm betting the amp that was posted on the NESdev thread is a sure thing, that guy seems pretty on the ball with this sort of stuff. I haven't had the chance to try it yet though. Has any one tried his amp, or read results of it?

Just wanted to add my two cents in here.. I'm a new member and have been reading this thread along with others from different forums and thought I'd give the mod a try.

My SNES is labeled SNS-GPM-CPU-02 and has the S-ENC A chip. I started just wiring from pins 1, 23, and 24 and got sub-par results. I then pulled the Y signal from the multi-out and that definitely helped, but the colors still seemed off.

I took advice from the thread on sega-16.com, posted by Ace, to wire in a transistor and the 1k pull down resistor onto the Pb and Pr signals. This made the colors look what I would deem acceptable.

To wrap it up in a nice neat package, I scavenged an AV out connector from a non-working Xbox and mounted it on the back of the SNES. I wired in the component video signals, as well as the composite signal and stereo audio (which I took from the multi-out). This basically keeps the original functionality of the multi-out connector and adds the component without having to mount a ton of RCA connectors.

Here's an album with a few pictures I took along the way: http://imgur.com/a/s9m9h

The only issue I'm running into is that my TV is a 50" plasma and the picture isn't very steady. Here's a video I recorded that shows what I'm talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZqgjfXfHoc

I'm assuming this is just my TV not being able to handle the 240p signal, as discussed before. Anyone have any thoughts otherwise?

Thanks! I actually bought some panel mount RCA jacks to use, but when I dug into my box of wire to get some supplies to start I saw the Xbox component box. I remembered that I had a junk Xbox as well and just went with it.

I just wish my TV didn't have the slight shake in it.. it's just enough to be totally distracting.

Quick update.. tested it out on another TV (Sony LCD) and the results were great. No issues that I could see.

Time to get a new TV? :)

Is there an updated circuit for that mod? The thread is so huge and have peoples throwing idea around a lot so I am not sure what is the most up-to-date circuit to use to get the best possible result.

There's a thread on the NesDev forums about this...

http://forums.nesdev.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=8979

kyuusaku posted his thoughts of how to correctly do it. I've been meaning to post in that thread and ask him some clarifying questions, but I haven't had the time to work on this more. He seems to know what he's talking about, so out of all the ideas pitched around, I'll rely on his more.

When I have the time again to work on this more, I plan to use kyuusaku's ideas. I posted in this thread about a month ago (see 5 or 6 posts back from this one) asking if any one has tried his amp yet, but know one replied.
