Any experience replacing nintendo jewels?

Yes, this is a kinda odd question...

Anyway, does anyone know how to remove the nintendo 64 jewel-that is the big logo on the front of the console. My reasoning for doing this is so I can replace it with a ultra 64 jewel, as seen on the origional prototypes.

I am also planning on altering the gamecube jewel to change it to the concept model, but I know how to remove this

On a similar note, I'm interested in XBox jewel replacements....

xbox jewel replacements are fairly straight forward, and if you really wan't to go overboard, you can add LED's.

You can also mod the controller jewel.

Where would you even find a Ultra 64 jewel? I pulled out hte old N64 and it's just a plastic insert that could be poped out if you took the top of the case off.

As far as N64 mods, there are none, the only thing that even comes close to a mod is takeing out the inner plastic insert so you can put games from Japan in it. There are two little bumbs on each side that keep you from loading a Famicom 64 game in a N64, unscrew it and you are good to go.

I'de recommend just buying one of the replacemnt cases for the gamecube, it's not really worth the troubble to cut a little disc hole when you can get a compleetly new case for 20-50 dollars.

Putting an xbox jewel in is actually a hudge pain in the ass. You see, once you pop the jewel off, you have to litteraly saw a hole in it, a perfictally round one. I would recommend a dremmel with a large variety of attachments or a gigsaw. It's not worth it unless you are expirenced with cutting pastics ect..

I have a vectorized image of the ultra 64 logo. also, it didn't seem like it would pop out in my model when I dismantled it, but I'll look again.

The only other real 64 mod is rewireing the RGB cable, and that's to possibly get a better picture. Other than that, the mod's are stuff like overclocking.

O_o why would you RGB mod a n64 when you can just buy a SCART cable for it.

Possibly there are differnt models of N64 with differnt jewels, the one on mine i can cearly see two little snapps where it pops out and in.

I havent done it myself, but after you get the stock jewel out, arent the replacement jewels you can buy alot easier to get back in?

besides that, if you dont like the green, you can get a whole new case for around $50

and if you replace the jewel, its almost begging to be lit up heh
