Just so you know, I use a lot of cheap irons myself (been wanting to get a nice solder station, but never get around to it and/or feel like dropping the money on it). The trick is using the correct size and shape tip for the technique you're using. The TS0Ps are very hard to solder, you probably just need to improve your technique. Getting a more expensive iron probably wont help you. Sorry to be blunt.

Anybody got any links to those really good soldering technique videos? I'm sure they were posted somewhere in this thread. Trying to solder a TSOP's legs one by one is futile, you're gonna need to use the drag method. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzI31gfCjJE that is a pretty good video that shows everything in detail.

Can someone refer me to a post either within this thread or elsewhere regarding label printing and design? Looking to print a BoFII reproduction label.

Could use a template with all the stock stuff already on it, like the logos that are on every label, rating, etc.

Well first off, it'll only be as good as your printer can make it. So if you don't have a decent printer, you might wanna use a buddy's or family member's printer.

I've given tips and whatnot about labels all through out this thread, as well as in other threads. The amount of time it would take me to find those posts, I can just type out the info again.

The first kind of labels I made were what I call the "tape trick" which is using adhesive backed paper (sticker paper) and clear packing tape. You print the labels onto the sticker paper, then cover it with the clear tape. The tape simulates the glossy top layer of a real label. I used Avery name badge labels. The tape, you may want to experiment with. I never found a great tape to use. I think I tried Scotch and maybe one or two others. There were a ton of tiny microscopic air bubbles that made the label look fuzzy almost.

Currently I use adhesive backed glossy photo paper. It looks amazing, and that's all you have to do is print, cut and stick. The draw back is that it IS photo paper, so less resilient than the tape trick method.

Eventually, I wanna get a laser printer, which would probably melt the adhesive photo paper I use. I was talking to Hobie about this and he told me about spray glues specifically designed for papers. So I figure if I ever get a laser printer, I could just get a photo paper graded for laser printing and use a spray adhesive. You can do this, too. Just use any old photo paper you can get your hands on and then use a spray glue.

The tape trick will probably be the easier choice.

As for creating the label, are you good in Photoshop? If you need help, just ask. I can whip up a BoF2 label in a couple of minutes.

I'm decent at best, but making labels is something I've never done before, so my first attempt will probably suck...go ahead and whip one up, if you don't mind. :)

The only part that bothers me about the process is cutting the label, I guess I'm too much of a perfectionist and would want the label to be cut by a machine to avoid any human error. I think the adhesive backed glossy paper sounds like the best option.

Thanks for retyping everything for my convenience. :D

Just double check the dimensions before you print, in case Photobucket resized it. Compared to the original label: http://www.superclassicvideogames.com/z ... an3258.jpg

You're missing the KA rating, which you could easily add if you desire (I never add those). The product code is just the generic one I use on all my SNES labels. It says Made in Japan, but you're cart might be made in Mexico, so that wont be authentic. It's also missing the "licensed by" above the Nintendo logo in the upper left. You can easily add this if you wish. Another minor thing you might notice is that the picture on the front of the label, on the real label there's a small gap between the top of the picture and the bend of the label. On mine, I put the picture all the way up to the bend, like all my other labels.

The biggest difference it the top part of the label. The real label has yellow italicized plain text, I used the logo from the box art. If you wanted it to be authentic, you could easily erase it and add the text in. I just didn't feel like taking the time to match fonts, much quicker to just copy and paste. Besides, I think it looks better anyway.

That's what I've noticed as well. Though some times I just like to make it which ever color I think fits the label better. For example, I think a red bar would have looked better on that BoF2 label. But there's a Star Fox 2 label I made recently that the purple bar looked better with.

That looks pretty nice. Where'd you find the art and everything?

Do you have an editable file? I want to add the K-A rating and the product code that's on my label. Mine also says "Made in Mexico." As for everything else's placement, do you just eyeball it?

Also, I see what you mean about the italicized font - not much you can do there without having the original font at your disposal. Did you intentionally leave out the "LICENSED BY?

One other thing, could I see a version of it with the art truncated before the bend? I think it looks better that way.

I asked the guy from gamereproductions to send me a label template, and this is what I got...a black canvas with no contour lines of any kind. Looks like the same resolution as the one you have though, zig.
