I will say this... 2 of the 5 items you get in first place can beat a blue shell easily.

If you're consistently getting trounced by blue shells then you aren't actually a first place skill player. If you're doing GPs then the best person is going to consistently end up with the most points, even if you don't take first every race.

Truth. Also... if you aren't using motion controls, you aren't winning either

Eh, arguably, if you're always out in first then you're the target for them every time. Will they always mean a loss? Well, no, though if you're trying to three-star trophies it can be annoying to get hit by them (and often in the Switch version, then get hit by additional shells) since you do need first every race. The real rub is more that someone getting a last-lap blue shell or something probably isn't in a position to actually place well anyway.

It could likely be balanced out by changing powerup availability by lap, or a system where getting hit by tracking powerups means others can't track that racer for a bit. Or just, balanced more in general. Objectively speaking, Mario Kart punishes players more in mid pack, where they fight amongst themselves (or get hit by powerful stuff that the stragglers get), making it all that much harder to actually catch up to the first place racer, provided they have any kind of lead.

I finally got my hands on a SNES mini! :D

I'm going to hold off hacking my new toy. For right now I'm just going to enjoy it stock. Once I make my way through the included 21 games, then I will look into hakchi. As a bonus, Hakchi will probably be more mature by then with all the bugs ironed out and improved compatibility.

I, too, managed to snag a Mini this weekend. I kinda had to pester the poor electronics people over the phone, trying to find out if they'd put them out yet. I'd feel bad, but by the time they finally put them out and I got over there, there were only two left on the shelves (I was told they put out twelve.)

So, yes. I got one.

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

CUL! :D

Have fun with those, and I agree, if you have to hack it, do the system right and crush some of the given library if not all of it first. It'll last a lot longer, and the program will mature further as will the compression too for storing more stuff. Who knows where it will be in another month.

Got one for myself recently and an extra one for a friend :D (no profit made or intended).
The 1st was from a trusty Gamestop employee that tipped me off when they got a shipment.
The other was from my lucky Amazon preorder that finally came through (had to re-confirm my order, but it worked out).

Love the controllers and love the rewind feature. Haven't tried Starfox 2 yet, but the emulation looks spot on with the other games.

I just wish my mayflash (SNES to Wii) converter worked with it. I just wanted to see how it worked and if there was much lag (the Wii had some delay, but might be more of a wireless issue than the connector?).

Not sure I see a point to hacking it, as there are hacks for so many other devices. The selection is quite good as is anyways.

It does seem as they produced more than the NES classic. Still not near enough though.
...just another lost soul...

Do you know anyone who really wanted one who hasn't been able to get one, yet? It seems to me that supply has been enough so far to keep most of the insane resale prices at bay.

This here. I haven't seen anyone complain about not being able to get one. Usually all media sites will be filled with people screaming about Nintendo screwing people over and it just isn't happening.
