I will definitely get one, but unless there is an Fzero or 3d Mario at launch, it is unlikely to be bought at launch. My backlog of Wii games is heavy, but more importantly a wedding and house kinda take precedence. I will however be buying a second Wii as soon as people start trying to sell them off.

If F-Zero or Mario Galaxy 3 were launch titles I literally, literally would drive to Kyoto just to buy it at the closest location to the HQ... for no particular reason.

That is what I am waiting for too.

Now on the Wii U, I never had a PS3 or 360 but if Nintendo wants me to still chose them eventually, they need some Resident Evil and all the fighters that the Wii didn't get. Mario and Zelda no longer appeal to me as they once did. I may get some hate here but I don't like any 3D Mario. NSMB was fun, what little I played of it at a friends house. I really don't ever see a system seller for me at all, unless Resident Evil goes all exclusive like with the Gamecube back in the day. That had me lined up as soon as it was announced.

Nintendo has not had a Street Fighter game on a home system since the SNES, so something that sells 4 million copies in the 90's is not worth their effort to secure now.

So far I am not interested, make that change Nintendo.

Day one purchase, simply because I don't have a wii and I would rather spend $250 on a console that will be updated for another 6+ years than $150 on a console that will be dead in a short while.

I get to play skyward sword now! :)
Oh, and pikmin 3 ftw

I'm kind of in the same boat. I was pretty skeptical at first but as someone who mostly skipped out on the Wii (besides having a friends for a few months) I'm starting to really get interested. Probably not a day one purchase but as soon as I see one on a shelf somewhere I may not be able to resist.

I wonder how the stock will be at your average retailer compared to when the Wii was released..

I'll do what I do with any new console. Wait a few years for some games I know I'll want to show up.

I'll probably bite the bullet for whatever new Zelda they make though. I'm always a sucker for Zelda.

Played it and saw all the launch games at PAX Prime this weekend, and I can honestly say that it's completely underwhelming. It really is just a HD Wii. I went into the expo wanting to be impressed, but the games all look current gen. Hopefully game developers will end up doing something interesting with it in the future...

If history has told us anything, it's that buying a new console at launch is asking for disaster to strike - especially since the hardware is new and still has bugs left to work out. Examples include:

PS1: Plastic components melting due to overheating
PS2: Overheating leading to fire hazard
PS3: YLOD
360: RROD

There are others, I'm sure, but I'm personally going to wait for at least the 2nd generation of Wii-U consoles before I take the risk to buy one.

Except this is a Nintendo product. My launch NES, SNES, N64, Gamecubes, and Wii, all still work fine.
