Excellent news. Maybe the GameCube version will finally drop in price enough for me to grab it.

Confirmed for purchase.

It's official; the first RPG available for the 3DS will be Tales of the Abyss 3D, which, sadly, will probably not be localized. Lightning doesn't strike twice. Curse you, Nintendo and your region-locking antics! Anyway, the game looks to be a direct port, save for added 3D effects. Still, it's Tales of the Abyss on a portable system!

Honestly, I'd consider purchasing a 3DS purely to support Pixel and his brilliance.

Casual gamers keep comparing the 3DS to the iphone/ipad type devices. >_>

The games may cost 40 times the price of games on the iphone, but they are 40 times better, plus you actually own them. Oh, and they have buttons! That's a big deal.

I just got a chance to play a demo unit of the 3ds today at the local Best buy. First Impressions, the 3d effect and graphics are very nice(PS2/GC level easily), with Pilotwings showing off the 3d capabilities very nicely. I would not recommend the 3d at full blast for myself, as it felt like I was going crosseyed. I was never good with 3d though.

The system is a bit smaller than I expected though, the screens particularly. Not that I mind, but I have giant hands, so it's not ideal. Still, can't wait to get one when the first revision or price drop hits, especially since I decided that after buying this, I'm not buying any new system for at least 5 years.
Current systems: Atari 2600[x2], NES(top loader), SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Saturn, Dreamcast, Playstation, PS2, PS2 slim, xbox, xbox 360, Turbografx-16, Game Boy Pocket, Game boy SP[x2], Nintendo DS[x2], Nintendo DSi, Nintendo 3DS, Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket Color, Wonderswan Color, Neo Geo MVS.

Bah, I'm done with the DS brand for the time being. Maybe when the inevitable 3rd iteration comes with a reasonable battery and price tag.
