Negative Thoughts on Goldeneye 007 Wii

Post by AznKhmerBoi »

got a chance to pick it up and play last night and manage to get throug 2 stages or so.

Here some negative thoughts i have about it.
- Does not feel smooth like the orignal n64 game ( it felt too quick , felt more like i was playing Call of Duty MF with levels similiar to goldeneyeN64 version. The running the shooting, the reload , and melee felt like it was a cookie cutter rip straight from Moder Warfare.

-Another gripe i have with the games is the enemies didnt have multiple hit points or not as much as the originally , seem like they all died the same way.

Overall i think this game was basically Call of Duty MW , controls, gameplay , etc with inspired levels from Goldeneye 64. Not a bad game but really didnt stay true to the original. But for a shooter on the wii this is probably the best to own.

When they touch 'classics' and try to reboot them, they never hold up to originals, even if in every way they are better games, because for its day the original was so unique and the nostalgia is so high, they never have a chance.

Comparing them is a mute point.

This is what Goldeneye would have been had it came out now. Like many other games, it plays like Call of Duty (this one is alittle more obvious than some others). I would say hold off all opinions until you play a couple rounds of multiplayer and get through the first four or five stages.

Personally Ive only played through most of the first stage - I unexpectedly had family come in town last night (Sister in law, a 2 year old, and a 3 month old) so my tv is now showing Mickey Mouse...Why couldnt they have came at the end of the month when I should have Epic Mickey.

true i agree they have to change the mechanics of gameplay to current shooters to appeal to more gamers nowadays, but seriiously the play through for couple missions was just set up and a ploy. I mean the orignal have you do missions but they constantly throw cutscene and tell you waht to do every moment of the game. Comon its annoying , i know its story telling but cant they just leave us alonea nd let us run through the game according to how we want to play it.

EX: Damn level

Wii- start out they tell u to take out the tower guards ( no kidding genious)
- cut scene , then annoying radio voice or team mate voice telling u what to do next.

N64- you have your mission brief prior to start. No one forced u to do anything , can take out tower guard if u want to or run pass him, up to u.

Main point its so damn annoying with their mission brief during gameplay, cut scene that not necessary. Just let us run around and do our thing without bother us every 10 mins of what we are suppose to do. That is what objective screen is for.

All these extras they put in made it feel too damn linear......

You are free to ignore what they're telling you as long as you complete the objectives. You can use stealth to take down enemies, sneak past them or run in guns blazing. There's actually a surprising amount of choice and depth to be had.

Because Goldeneye was championed back in the day as a herald of non-linear gameplay. Aside from both Surface levels it was completely point A to point B.

I haven't played the new game, but I think he means something like:

The old one was get from point A to point B, with the points being far apart and you can do whatever you want in between.
The new one is get from point A to point B to point C to point D, with the points being close together and you have little free play.

That's it. I think that's all you can expect considering it's published by Activision.

That's your Call of Duty-esque cinematic experience for you.

I second this. :) I love it when developers make games to bring out some of the best graphics in a system.
