I can not find a solution to this problem online.
Colors seem off.
In Desert Strike the helicopter is pink, even in-game together with other moving targets.
It seems that everything that is somewhat stationary works good but other things do not.
During the intro of Dixie Kong's Double Trouble all seems fine until the level select map starts or in gameplay.
FIFA uses a scrolling background and this is also distorted.

It's a Japanese Super Famicom, powered by a Sega Megadrive 1 PSU.
TV out is through a HDMI converter for SNES/SFC/NGC/N64.
Just to be sure I ordered a recap set and a TV to composite out for NTSC systems.
Friday I'll receive a PAL SNES to test the HDMI converter.
Any clues?
Super Famicom graphical issue
Re: Super Famicom graphical issue
My first suspicion would be the HDMI converter if that's the only thing you've ever used the console with. Definitely try composite cables and see if you still have the same problem, although you will need to make sure the TV or monitor can accept an NTSC composite image. Since you call it a Mega Drive, are we to assume you're in a location that uses the PAL standard? Exactly which HDMI converter are you using? Does it have a switch for NTSC/PAL modes?

Yes, I live in Europe hence the PAL region.
I've tested the PAL SNES and this one has no problem with the HDMI converter, image is clean and normal.
The converter is a cheap one from AliExpress and has an automatic switch for PAL and NTSC.
Re: Super Famicom graphical issue
Do you have any other NTSC sources to test that functionality with the HDMI converter?
Re: Super Famicom graphical issue
For the moment not. I will check to see if someone can borrow me a NTSC SFC or SNES.
Re: Super Famicom graphical issue
I had a Super Nintendo die on me years ago.
It started with graphical glitching and off colors.

I concluded that it was one of the ppu chips going out. Eventually it stopped loading games altogether a pity as I was going to use it as a dedicated SGB player).
I still wonder if there is something that could've fixed it, but I went the quantity route and have backup systems now.
I do hope you find a fix though.

...just another lost soul...
Re: Super Famicom graphical issue
I've tested another Super Famicom and that one works perfect.
Probably it will be the PPU...
I still will clean the board thoroughly and change the caps.
Thanks for all the info.
I'll keep this post updated in case that someone searches for the same issue.
