Watched the first 15 vids, from a Google search, on youtube. The CLIP!... "Oh, simple. Just press here and it pops open"
Fuck me.. mine does not! Not even a slight budge.
It's about to get opened with a baseball bat. lol
Any tips?

I can empathize with you, SDB. I have felt similar frustrations trying to open electronic items -- not the PS3 controller in specific, just other electronic human-interface devices.
Here's a couple of general tips when things don't go according to plan:
-If you have to force it, something is wrong.
-Don't overlook simple things.
-Make sure you have removed ALL the screws.
-Sometimes there are hidden screws under a label.
-Tackle the problem from more than one angle.
-You can make your own prying tool from an old discount card or membership card. Use scissors to cut the card into any shape that's helpful to you.
-If you feel frustrated, take a break and grab a bite to eat.
-Come back to it after lunch. Maybe you'll see something you overlooked before.
These are all just general observations from opening controllers, keyboards, mice, trackballs, numpads, and similar human-interface devices. They're not about the PS3 controller in specific. Hope this helps you, SDB.

Haha. Thanks. Just before you posted, I did pretty much everything you said and got it finally. Putting it back together .... I had to go make an early lunch half way through before HULK SMASH! heh
All done now. Can you spot the difference?
If anyone finds this.. the guides on YT are correct but you might need a dash of samsonlonghair's tips

Heh, thanks. The stock sticks were sticky on the top. Nothing i did would make it go away. The tops also spun on the shafts a bit. Figured id try $1 Xbone sticks from China. Works great
