Need help picking a tablet pc

Post by cabrando »

Just recently had my b-day and got $300 from my family.

Looking for a tablet in the $300-$400 range. The only real real
requirement I have is a 12" screen. I've never owned one before
so general advice is welcome. Can you even get a decent one
in that price range?

You can easily get just about any used Wacom Intuos for that money. Really you can't do much better than those without getting into things like Cintiqs.

I bought a Motion M1300 from eBay for $150 about 2 years ago. The same tabletpc is now $90. Best bang for your buck for starting with one.

1ghz CPU
1gb RAM
40gb HDD
windows XP
12" screen
wacom digitizer

I really recommend it. I have 2 videos of it in my youtube channel. You can check it out from my signature below. It runs photoshop CS4 and Zbrush perfectly fine which I assume is why you'd possibly be interested in one.

Good luck on your decision!

Sorry for the fumbling around in the Autodesk app, it was new too me at the time.

Depending on your use, I'm going to go ahead and suggest a refurb or used iPad, it's not a notebook or fully featured computer, but what it does, it does very well (and effeciantly). And the 10 hour battery life is not exagerated.

Guess I should have mentioned I want it to be the "convertable laptop" style where it has a built in keyboard.

I actually have an iPad. It's just not fitting my needs for work, document handling specifically.

Even iWork and PocketDocs don't work well for you? Well, for 200-400 bucks you're going to have a hard time finding much selection.

iWork doesn't work b/c I have to sync to get files and I sync my iPad with my home computer. Emailing files is kind of a pain. Haven't checked out pocketdocs.

I really need a keyboard too and carrying an extra Bluetooth keyboard is also a hassle.

Perhaps you should go with a net book.
