PS2 fat, HDD, memor32,FreeMCboot, & Backups- where to start?
I'm looking to get myself a new fat PS2, and I'd like to install a hard drive and backup my games (ps1 & ps2). i looked up the memor32 card and it looks really interesting. I want to try it out and install FreeMCboot on it, and see what it offers. By any chance, is there any HD Loader alternative that allows me to load ISO backups off the HDD? (and the ability to play psone backups, CD-R or ISO on HDD?)

I'm afraid you can't back up PS1 games to the hard drive. Only PS2 games. You can play backups of PS1 discs, using a PS2 homebrew program and the Swap Method, but as far as I know, there is currently no way to play PS1 games off a PS2 hard drive.

Is this the card? That sounds crazy overpriced for what you get. You can have someone install FreeMC Boot on a standard memory card for the price of postage usually. With a network adaptor you can back up saves via FTP instead of USB. Slightly less convenient, but not worth an extra $35. What else would this card do that would recommend it over a normal memory card?
I'm not sure why you want an HD Loader alternative when HD Loader itself lets you launch PS2 backups from the hard disk. It comes with FreeMC Boot. Just get FreeMC Boot on a normal memory card, a network adaptor, and a larger memory card for the other slot and you're all set.

hiya team and Garou , i recommend not getting a memor32. What you should get is an Official SONY PS2 Memory Card ( make sure its not a fake ) install FMCB on it and get a quality USB Stick (Sandisk).
On the USB Stick put a folder called x:/BOOT and in that Folder put ULaunchelf renamed as BOOT.ELF.
Make another Folder in the Root of the USB Stick called HDL and put HDLoaders in there , i have about 10.
Buy your self a PS2 Network Adapter and compatible Hard Drive and to install games onto the HDD use WinHIIP to install the ISOs onto it.
When all devices are connected to your PS2 switch it on and ULaunchelf should boot , then goto Filebrowser and choose x:/MASS/HDL and load HDLoader

If you need someone to make a FreeMcBoot card, I can help you there. Just send a memory card along with sufficient return shipping to me. I'll put FreeMcBoot, HDLoader, and a few other apps. I've done it for 7-8 fellow forum members.

The homebrew app your talking of requires a V9 PS2 and above, just so the op knows.lisalover1 wrote:I'm afraid you can't back up PS1 games to the hard drive. Only PS2 games. I totally forgot about FTPing. Im sitting here installing discs to the hard drive. Mines a Fat PS2 with a chip. Im running Toxic OS.
I FTP to my Xbox all he time, guess I never realized about the PS2.
Yeah they're right. Free McBoot is the way to go. Really easy to install. Or you can have someone do it for you.
using ESR you can run an ISO that's been patched, no modchip or swapping required. I did it the other day on a slim ps2 with Mega Man X8.

I have a memory card right now with Free McBoot installed on it. I don't need it. PM me if you want it.
