Dreamcast controller wiring

Post by spinksy »

Hi

right after trying to make a dual analog stick pad awhile ago and ruinning 2 good DC pads (or a DC controller with analog stick on right hand side of pad) I'm about to attept it again!

This is main reason why -

From the looks of it - its an xbox 360 analog stick that has been stuck on the top of the pad- I'm assuming he just wired the analog stick to the d-pad sensor parts.

So I thought about doing the same - I took apart an old quatem fire pad I've had gathering dust for years and took out the analog stick!

On the circuit board of the Q-pad, where the wires from the analog stick went there is
-RED WIRE = 3V (live)
-GREEN WIRE = GROUND
-ORANGE WIRE = XA (X axis left & right)
YELLOW WIRE = YA (Y axis up & down)

My main question is where do I solder each of these wires on the standard (official) controller D-pad part?

Any help will be great.

Suspect that "Analog" stick is riding on top of switches of a direction pad.

Not sure if you can easily convert analog stick to digital pad. Each direction on the game pad is the closing of two connections with no resistance in the circuit. Either full off or full on. Basically the stick has a variable never off resistance registered on the connections. Another option perhaps is set up a custom modded dual digital stick using the direction pads and the Y, X, A and B buttons. If a FPS such as Quake or Half life you could intregrate the Analog stick as the left control and the four top buttons wired to a stick for the right. Or go real crazy and search out the DC Madcatz Panther for FPS. Also makes for a beautiful Flight Stick for Aero Dancing.
