Yes, it (and in fact the entire Clone Wars series) slots into the canon between Episodes II and III. (In other words The Clone Wars was not retroactively dropped from the canon as part of the Disney acquisition.)

Also, I watched it with my kids a while ago, and it’s actually pretty good. (They adore the show and have watched almost every episode on Netflix. From what I have seen, it is actually really good.) It is pretty much wall-to-wall action, and it is definitely for children. The dialogue is, strangely, more natural than any of the other prequels, however, and In my opinion, it the second best of the prequel films.

So...if you wanted to do it right, you would watch Episode II, the original Clone Wars animated series, the Clone Wars movie, all six seasons of the second Clone Wars series, Episode III, and then all four seasons of Star Wars Rebels. (My children are pretty much doing this, meaning that they know way more about Star Wars than me. Good for them!)

You know how some people say that The Animated Series version of Batman (Kevin Conroy) is the definitive onscreen version of the character? (I'm actually one of them). Well the Clone Wars version of Anakin is the definitive version of that character for me (although once again I feel like the series itself improves a lot upon the introductory film)

Yep!

Episode III is awesome, and the clone wars is more like Episode III than any of the other prequels.

Agreed. I also think it would be great if the new movies referenced the show in some way.

Okay, so the Rebels "movie" is really just the first 1 hour of the series. I was thinking it was more of a standalone.

yeah sorry for the confusion of title, guys. Anyway sounds like the Clone Wars movie is worth watching. IF I enjoy it enough maybe I'll delve into the animated series at some point. We'll see. Anyway, thanks!

Great discussion. I want to watch them all (both rebels & clone wars) at some point. Been impressed with what I've seen. I didn't realize the later was on Netflix. I enjoyed the Lego Star Wars Freemaker Adventures series WAY too much. Had me cracking up. Another solid one.

Bwoy, and indie drama about a man (Anthony Rapp), who begins an online relationship with a young Jamaican man while his relationship with his wife slowly deteriorates.

We soon learn that

And towards the end

Overall it's a very bittersweet drama. I recommend it.

Rocky Mountain Express

Discovered a neat Imax film on Bluray checked out from the Library. As one who loves history and documentaries, how did this slip by? The 500 Miles theme song so perfect to the old train, sentimental journey song of a bygone era and even makes me remember of my youth. The old wood shacks for rail workers from a century ago still standing memory. Grand that the old locomotive still chugging the mountains keeping history alive. This a keeper, buying tomorrow at BookOff.

The trailer, a very moving song. So many artists have sung; is this Joan Baez or Peter Paul Mary?

Originally shown in IMAX theaters and shot in 70mm, this short film is part documentary, part travelogue, and part nature film telling the story of Canada's first railway to cross the Rockies. The gorgeous Canadian countryside looks stunning in UHD and the disc even comes with some great bonuses that complement the main feature.

This film chronicles Van Horne's feat, through period photographs and the writings of people who were there. It also shows what the railway looks like today, with beautiful aerial photography but mainly from the train itself, snaking its way through the Rockies. Not just any train however, but a restored steam engine that makes the trek through the mountains in much the same fashion as travelers did back in the 1880's.

Production work for Rocky Mountain Express took place over a five-year period (2006-2011). The production team worked to schedule perfect shooting opportunities with the star of the project, the Empress (CPR 2816), a steam locomotive built in 1930 and restored and operated by the Canadian Pacific Railway. Stephen Low filmed extensively from the air using a helicopter and gyro-stabilized camera mount to capture the train’s journey and the great diversity of the western landscape. “Ultimately, we mounted IMAX cameras all over the train as well,” says Low. “We wanted to give audiences an intimate ’being there’ experience of steam power and this magic place that even train engineers don’t get to experience.”

Lost in Space 1998. Yup, still a bad film. CGI in some areas looks good actually and holds up well but many other areas it looks awful lol and not even sure that Monkey looked good even then. I do think the set design for Jupiter 2 is great. The ship has a good design. The robot looks amazing. The costume design is well done. The remixed theme is kinda neat. The script and dialogue are bad. Shame this movie didn't turn out better. It does have some good stuff in it like the homage to original Robot and Original Jupiter 2. Now off I go to the original series. Loved it as a kid,who knows now.
