I use fromjapan as a proxy. Just search for stuff on there, I'm sure you'll find it.

I've found thrifting in NY to be pretty tough, seems like stores are either picked over pretty quick or the good stuff ends up in stores that are well curated but with higher prices. I have friends that have come up on some nice things, but I haven't had much luck in my size.

I still like to go every once in a while though, so if anyone is looking for anything in particular or certain brands, feel free to share and I can keep an eye out. One of the only brands I collect vintage pieces for is North Face, mostly from the 90's but I do have some items from the late 80's as well.

I want some older gaming tees (2005 and before) so if you ever see anything like that I would definitely be interested. I collect gaming merch and oddities more than actual games now with the prices being so dumb.

Got any Steep Tech pieces? I went crazy with the October 2020 capsule. Apogee jacket, vest, pants, Denali like pullover, Nuptse like down jacket, and even the chest rig. All in that Burnt Olive and Evergreen colorway.

Edit: what drew me to North Face was the Nuptse during the NYC craze the late 90s to early 2000s. I still have my jacket that’s about 17 years old. But I have to say that the Steep Tech was something I couldn’t afford growing up but wished to have. That’s kinda why I went a little crazy late last year.

And despite the username and the love for TNF, the Gucci x TNF line was over the top in pricing. I can’t do $650 for a tee shirt and $1,400 for a hoodie.

The guy on the right is wearing an Arcteryx jacket. Those are really nice. Much nicer than North Face.

There is Summit Ice as well. Made by a comedian who is so committed that he's actually selling the merchandise he made for an episode

Edit: It probably needs context

That’s actually pretty awesome!

I don’t own an Arcteryx jacket or anything from them but I’ve heard very nice things about them. Actually I took a look at a waterproof jacket from them a few weeks ago at Dover Street Market in Manhattan. I have too many water resistant/proof jackets or else I would have gotten one.

In terms of quality I can’t comment on it. The only real experience I have with North Face in recent memory is the Steep Tech stuff. Good quality to me I guess. I don’t see any ripped seams or cheap materials or anything. I’d have to see how they hold up long term.

Good to know, I'll keep an eye out and let you know if I come across any kind of gaming merch like that. My friend found a vintage StarFox 64 shirt a few years ago at a store in my old neighborhood, so things like that definitely come up from time to time.
