Anyone have any experience with a wireless barcode scanner?

Anyone have any experience with a wireless barcode scanner?

Post by Soldier Blue »

I'm trying to scan books and other barcodes to resell on amazon, but I can't stand to use a smartphone to scan barcodes. I also don't think the blutooth smartphone attachment works to well either. I'd much rather use a wireless barcode scanner like the one in the picture in link. Has anyone had any luck using one of these to scan books at flea markets book sales..etc? I really think it could be a godsend for a struggling entrepreneur such as myself.

I see people using handheld units like this all the time at big used book sales around here. There are several folks in the area in that game, apparently.

Yeah the word got out about it a few years back and its pretty competitive now. I still enjoy doing it though, and I would say it's still profitable. By now I have a few years experience doing it. The key is just having a good system and either a very good smart phone or a good portable scanner. That way you don't have to worry about your phone's battery life dying. Also the smart phone with the highest battery life out there is HIGHLY recommended. The ZenFone 3 Zoom. I tried using just a cheap smart phone but its pretty counter intuitive.

Do you really need to scan and store? Or just scan to a PC?

FWIW, I use this one at work and never had a problem with it. It's slow for its first scan when it's "waking up," but otherwise it's performance has always been great. I've been using it since about October 2017 and I have never once charged it!

Edit: Ah, nevermind. I didn't realize you were looking to use it with a smartphone.
