We'll go through spells where we're all happy and discussing things in a decent manner. But then something will happen and I was sure what it was when I remember seeing something up when those two left. Several discussions and the way they turned in the world thread is exactly why people like apple and lisa left though. Just seeing the name calling and other elementary level behavior in there alone is enough to turn anyone away. I know i'm not the best on controlling my cussing either, but I don't know, if some of that kind of stuff doesn't change I don't see any more reason that more people won't quit the forums.

I love it here but things like that are kinda turning me off...
Sorry to hear about that. I'm happy to make an effort to keep things PG-13 for those members who find curse words disturbing, all that's required is a polite request.

Thanks.

I mentioned the chill on cussing since it usually leads to hostility especially when posting a direct reply to another member. A curse once in a RARE while to prove a point might be acceptable (Moderators please chime in), but then a solid post does not need that expletive. This Forum so much better then most trash talk sites due to the nature of most of the quality respectful posts.

Oh and I'm a retired Sailor; our Divisions known to have additional colorful words unknown to civilians (except for maybe a plumber) in our vocabulary!

Again I have no problem with them(I use them enough in the car and in my head at school because my anger gets the best of me a lot). It's just the frequent nature in other topics is weird considering the mature nature those topics should be discussed in...

I'm not above watching stuff like:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCM_APv3u2g

But at the same time I realize in some topics there's a time and place...and some people just aren't careful in how they handle relations to board members that have left for more compelling reasons than just losing interest...

I feel like limiting swearing on the forums is like oppressing my culture

British people swear a lot.

All this talk of "swearing" has got this song stuck in my head now,

I swear by the moon and the stars in the skies
And I swear like the shadow that's by your side

If it really upsets you so much, you can use a profanity filter. There are profanity filters for every popular browser. For example: http://fstop.oliveryork.com.au/ It's more reasonable to shield yourself than to recommend an entire forum censor itself.

That's not even what I was going for. I was just saying that the general attitude towards the members that left when they did makes it very clear why they did. I love talking to people here, but on certain subjects(political and social) some people handle themselves in manners that seem to contradict their usual calm, composed, and mature natures. I understand differing opinoins and it makes people mad that other people have differing opinions to those, but there has to be a better way to handle oneself that doesn't make people feel unwelcome to post and contribute to the community...

I'd hate to see Racketboy join the legions of dead forums that were brought down by a plague of cussing.
