Did you know that VGMJB budded off of LMH like a hydra? Brent has called us a "spawncast," and Josh has called LMH our "dadcast." We inherited so much from the two of them (as I'm sure you can tell).

Josh and I even met through LMH. We were both users who got heavily involved with various aspects of that show, wound up collaborating on a karaoke, and then somehow decided that starting our own podcast despite being almost total strangers was a good idea.

It's kind of amazing how well it all worked out.

So far I'm a little iffy on Pixel Tunes. I like the two main hosts and the chemistry is great, some good jokes too... but sometimes they seem to go on a little too long or I'm not always up for listening to a song, and then hearing one of them dog on it with their opinion. It's a stark contrast compared to LMH since they always harp and love on the songs and then just ramble about the goofiest nonsensical yet entertaining things. Also not a fan of when they play some weird vocalized modern songs that are like butt rock, dubstep, and other things.

2 hours just seems like too much for Pixel Tunes to me right now, they often don't seem to let a song repeat even once too. So, it feels like 75% of the episodes at least are them talking. The info can be cool though. Maybe best to see it as some kind of videogaming history podcast or something.

I like what they're doing and will check out their youtube channel, sounds like that'll be cool and it's pretty awesome they're providing some new tracks and rips of rare things.

Still love the VGM Jukebox though and the consistent creativity, I never know what to expect per episode, in an awesome way. And the off topic discussions never go on for too long. The length is always good and the whole user submitted focus is actually pretty awesome now that I've listened to a different styled podcast. And not trying to brown nose or anything.

Uh, did the Revisionist History die? lol

Been knocking out some podcasts lately. Trying to figure out another good one that's informative. Is there anything quite like Mysterious Universe? Some of their antics after awhile make my eyes roll though, it's funny how casual they try to be with the "premium" inserts and things like that, but it feels very artificial after awhile actually. But one episode a week isn't enough to really annoy me. I just wish they didn't come off so formulated.

But a cool science podcast would maybe be interesting.

I don't know what happened with Revisionist History, though I think he may have only planned to do a dozen episodes and stop. I'd love to get more though.

This podcast is full of weird tales, paranoia, and just lots of odd stuff. Really unique and perfect if you're looking for some further unsettling and creepy Halloween entertainment.

I'm starting to lose interest in Mysterious Universe, but I love the content they cover (weird tech, silly supernatural things and conspiracies, etc). I think these guys have been at it for 14 some years or something though? There's just something about the format and the jokes that come off really robotic and stale after awhile. It feels too predictable and them constantly talking up and teasing the premium content gets old. Of all the podcasts I listen to lately this is the one I zone out too almost completely sometimes, so it's not really doing it for me anymore.

Anything similar but maybe better?

Rob sounds like Brent's (LMH) brother or something and Pernell is hilarious. These guys have great energy and wit. Compared to the other VGM podcasts I'm a fan of, I love how simple they keep it and the pace is faster than the others and then all their picks over the last few episodes I've heard have been amazing. They seem to lean more towards actual chiptunes and classic stuff compared to Pixel Tunes, whom sometimes get a little more into vocal/band stuff, not my preference. And then these guys do a "Bonus Round" at the end and each pick a cover track of the songs, which I'm normally not into... but they post some badass covers that gives me faith in VGM remixes again.
