When does global warming actually show up in real life?

Post by jvalentine98 »

I walked outside today and it's about 80 degrees on an early October day in Alabama. The weather is the same as it's always been, hot as hell in the summer and cold as hell in the winter.

Now, according to scientists the world was supposed to have either froze over, or humans died out or whatever due to global warming. Well, it hasn't happened yet.

You can point to all the data and charts and numbers you want, but I live in the real world, I walk outside and I feel the weather, which is far superior to a science project, and I don't see any change. It seems like a lot of bellyaching about nothing.

Note to scientists and end of the world types: We're all gonna die one day. Nobody gets out alive. Nothing you can say is going to scare me or make me excited.

I just get tired of this debate and my answer to it all is: I don't care. Millions of dollars spent on junk when you could have fed hungry people with it, IMO.

What about message boards, are they superior to your own anecdotes?

My point is, someone somewhere is pouring millions of dollars to prove that in 50 years, it will be 98 instead of 95.

Really, that's all you got?

A hundred years ago when it was 90 or even 80, they didn't have air conditioning! So it felt like 120. All the bad stuff we've done and it's maybe gotten a tad hotter or a tad colder. It still feels the same. All the research has been a waste, IMO.

You seem to care a lot for someone who doesn't care.

Because, you can totally get global observations from a local perspective without quantitative support. Just use your feels, everyone can believe in that.

I'm not out hugging trees, but I think the point is that we have future generations to consider. It isn't just about how the weather is for you today. The ice caps melting is a real thing and a few degrees does make a difference, you should do a little research on it.

History doesn't only extend to people without air conditioners either, global climate changes have wiped out entire species and could easily wipe us out as well. If we don't address it now, then when exactly?

I appreciate the fact that you try and post topics with some substance to get a discussion going on something, but it is undermined by the way you go about it my friend.
