The sequel/companion to Scott Westerfeld's anti-vampire vampire novel Peeps, which reinvented vampires as the result of parasitism (which is also attributed to being the source of the myth behind other entities such as zombies and werewolves).
Here, it's about two characters, Pearl and Moz, who meet by chance in NYC shortly after the events of Peeps. During a massive sanitation strike that leaves the streets of New York City piled with garbage and swarming with rats, the two meet after a woman goes bezerk and tosses out everything she owns, including a Stratocaster. The two save it and from there they form a band with Moz's friend Zahler, a street performer named Alana Ray (who drums with paint buckets), and Pearl's friend Minerva, whose condition and bizarre lyrics hold the key to the ever-encroached end times. But to what end remains to be seen! Will their music stave off the end of days... or summon it?
In a way it kinda feels Gregg Arakian in nature.
Can't wait for the movie.
