What are you listening to? [VGM Edition]

I've gotten back into IIDX because there's an arcade with a machine near me. And because of that this song has been IN MY BRAIN for the past couple weeks.

I frequently revisit Xenogears' music.

Light from the Netherworld

Awakening

One who Bares Fangs at God

Shevat- The Wind is Calling (Chrono Trigger baby)

Perfect. Sounds like Xenoblade 2 is Mitsuda's biggest project ever, curious to see how the music turns out.

I've been digging these guys for a while now. You can listen to pretty much their entire catalog via YouTube or bandcamp.

I decided I wanted to support them by purchasing their music. You can buy digital versions of their music from bandcamp, but they have a pretty neat item on their store page. It's essentially a USB stick with their entire catalog dumped on it, but housed in a SNES cartridge.

Never ending YouTube playlist for Jazz / Soul covers of VGM. There's a lot of amazing stuff here. I posted this in another thread some months back, but I recently rediscovered it.

That is absolutely krunking amazing! It also reminds me: Has anyone noticed the ridiculous list of composers working on the soundtrack for Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom? It's damn near just shy Higashino Miki, Shimomura Yoko, and Sakimoto Hitoshi from comprising a stable of Japanese game music titans.

Speaking of cool composers going ham on FM, I've been listening to the Dracula Densetsu / Contra Rebirth soundtrack again, lately. Namiki Manabu is a bit of a wizard with the digital ivory. The curious thing is that I've kind of been pulled more toward the Contra side of the album, though. In particular, the special medley at the end is friggin' glorious:

I don't know how I lived before finding this streaming radio for retro Japanese computer music, but I know how I'm going to live from now on.
