IMPORTANT INFO:

Directions to Knoebels
*I'll hand out flyers with my address and directions on them when we meet up at Knoebels.

Meet @ 12pm near the benches between the Playland Arcade and the Roaring Creek Saloon and Gaming Parlor. I'll be the 5'7" guy with a beard and a white Phillies hat. PM me for my cell phone info if you want it.

You should certainly feel free to come earlier and explore the park instead of/in addition to playing arcade games, but it would be nice if we could all meet at the arcade and play some games before going to my house around 4:00.

Console Gaming Plans (@ dsheinem's) - LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN ADDRESS ANY OF THE NEEDS

CRT TV1 (32") - Sega Station - Guardian Heroes, Three Dirty Dwarves, Contra Hard Corps, Golden Axe, Ballz 3D, Weaponlord

HDTV 1 (55") - Sony Station - Twisted Metal Black, SSF4, BlazBlu, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core, PSN Brawlers (X-Men, TMNT, Scott Pilgrim, etc.)

HDTV 2 (43") - Microsoft Station - Castle Crashers, Raiden Fighting Aces, Steel Battalion
NEED: (another copy of SB would be awesome for link play. :D)

CRT TV2 (21") - Nintendo Station - TMNT III: The Manhattan Project, Mario Kart 64, and Dr. Mario.

MAME Cabinet - shmups and whatever else we might want...

Feel free to bring anything else you might think folks would like to try, but be sure to label whatever you bring!

Original Post:

I have been kicking this idea around since last summer, but I think it is time to gauge interest in a potential meetup for folks in and around PA and NY similar to what folks in TX and CA do regularly...

Specifically, I am interested in finding out how many would be interested in coming to a meetup/BBQ at Knoebels Amusement Park in Elysburg, PA sometime in mid-August (the 13th or 20th, probably). I chose this location for two reasons.

1) They have a decent arcade with about 30 machines in it. It's not the best arcade I've ever seen, but Playland Arcade is far from the worst. Knoebels is also a full-fledged and FREE amusement park (you pay per ride) that's a lot of fun for families, so you could bring your non-gaming friends and family members and they could also have a good time. Food and rides are very cheap, especially for an amusement park.

2) It is about 5 minutes from my home, so at some point we could come here and play console games for almost any system you might want. I can't offer a guest room, but I can offer private camping space on my property. Alternately, there's plenty of campgrounds and several hotels to stay in around here.

My current thinking is to spend time @ Knoebels from like 10am-4pm, and then afterward people can come over for gaming and a BBQ at my place, if they'd like.

I realize that we're mostly spread out across NY and PA. Knoebels is about an hour from Scranton, 90 minutes from Harrisburg or Allentown, 2 hours from Philly, NYC, or Binghamton, and probably about 4 hours from Pittsburgh. If this was something we decided to do once or twice a year, it would be great to see it move around from place to place...

Anyway, let me know if you'd be interested by posting below. We'll try to make a decision late this month.

Count me as interested, sounds like a pretty good time. I'll have to see what my schedule is looking like when it gets a bit closer to August though. I had some other plans in August but they're tentative.

It's possible I and my girlfriend may also come. I'll be moving to NYC around that time, so that may conflict. But interest is there.

I've just found out my aforementioned tentative plans are set for August 6-13. If the meet-up was scheduled for sometime after this, I would most likely be in. I would probably bring some friends along too.

The 20th would be cool with me, I think.

I know there are a lot more PA people on the board...

I've been to Knoebles before growing up - and I can attest that it is a fun place. I haven't been there in a long time so I haven't checked out it's arcade.

This sounds like a lot of fun and I'm close enough to probably make it - maybe not this year since I kind of just joined the Racketboy community, but next year perhaps. Sounds like fun.

Did I just read Knoebels?! This could be a very doable meet for me. I'll swap planners with the wife and brainstorm.

Maybe we can finalize that Vectrex sale, Dave :)
