connection-speeds
so this is a completely random, off-topic question
and I know that this might eventually lead to a pissing-contest, but I'm curious
Sweden has been bragging about their internet for a couple of years now
turns out Finland is the "major" internet-country (so to speak)
on that note, I've noticed that many U.S. friends don't seem to have very fast connections
now I know that there are people from all kinds of places in the world on these forums, so to ease my curiousity.... what internet-speed do you all have?
in order to keep this as "clean" as possible I suggest using speedtest.net for measuring
here's mine:
do note that on "good days" I will get 113Mbps, but right now it's a bit slower (a lot slower, seemingly)
I pay for 100Mbps down/11Mbps up and I get it for about 30€
do note that this isn't to brag about anything, this is pure curiousity
I know for a fact that there are 1Gbps lines available in Sweden, albeit I'm not on one of them =/
:edit
to ease the process, here's the link to speedtest

Re: connection-speeds
That isn't ridiculous at all. I pay about $70 for 5Mbps which isn't even that reliable any longer and a landline. I HATE centurylink and their crappy monopoly in my area.
Just curious, why in the world is the internet so fast in Sweden?
My wife is streaming hulu plus at the moment so I can't post my speedtest until later for an accurate reading.

Re: connection-speeds
Cheaper than in the US.
We pay $150 a month for basic analog cable, cable internet and telephone service. Telecoms and cable companies have complete control over the pricing schemes over here so prices have been left to skyrocket in recent years.
There are alternatives such a AT&T's U-Verse and fiber optic internet at only $50 a month. But to most older people over here like my mom dealing with paying a higher price is better than canceling Time Warner with a nice old fuck you and switching service providers.
It's a sort of compliance thing that most of the people from her generation share to just lay there and not care about certain issues.
