New Forum Video Embed Function to Test

Post by racketboy »

Hi everyone
I just installed a new phpbb extension:
https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... ediaembed/

Can you all test it out a bit and let me know if you run into any issues?

I'll be using the spoiler tag for each one so the page doesn't fuck with folks' system resources.

Bluesky test: Just created a link surrounded by the media tags.

Bandcamp test (track):
Bandcamp test (album):
Facebook test (post):
Just says it was either removed (it wasn't) or the privacy settings changed (I had them set to public).

Instagram test:
Kickstarter test:
Reddit post test:
Reddit comment test:
Threads test: Same as Bluesky.

Looks like Bluesky and Threads have issues. Can't say I use those, personally, but I'll make note.
Thanks for the testing!

Thanks for adding this feature, even if I can see it both the good and bad that can come from this.

For one, I noticed that it supports Twitter and Tumblr and both feature TONS of NSFW content. But I'll go ahead and test them, but I won't be using the spoiler tab so you all will see I'm not posting anything pervy.

So, it looks like only Twitter works, but not Tumblr. I even edited the URL so it resembles the supported sites page, but all it did was go from having a hotlink to having a "This post is gone now" error. And I don't think it's the link since I had the same results with a different link (to a picture of a Mega Man Legends hack that replaces the title character with Hatsune Miku.

Gonna test the Steam store real quick.
HOT DAMN! IT WORKS! What's the rule on using affiliate links? I am not an affiliate so my links won't be, but if they're against the rules, then it'll definitely have to be enforced with embedded store links.

Good to know, thank you!
I'll have to think on your questions/concerns. NSFW is a thing. And not fully sure about affilliate stuff -- maybe that might be a good topic for discussion with the die-hard members?

Youtube Music test (song)
Youtube Music test (playlist)
It seems to embed the video from the main YouTube site in lieu of YouTube Music.
