It sucks how so many of our everyday items that we don't even think about come from China and poorly made and If I'd want to buy a product that isn't from china I'd have to pay more and go way out of my way to find it.
I hate everything that country stands for and don't want to support their cheap/poor/slave/child labor etc.
Anyone else hate supporting china?

Taking a stance against an entire country is not a smart thing to do if you don't know much about it. The fact is, the United States' economy would practically implode on itself without financial support from Chinese services and producs. Since our economy is used for many, many things, there would be huge consequences if everyone would do what you do.holaback wrote:It sucks how so many of our everyday items that we don't even think about come from China and poorly made and If I'd want to buy a product that isn't from china I'd have to pay more and go way out of my way to find it.

Also, are you aware that almost every nation, not just China, uses child labor to make their products? If it's not made in the US, UK, Canada, or most of Europe, it's a safe bet that it was probably made by children working for pennies on the dollar. It's just how the world works.

I gave up on trying to save the world a long time ago. Now the only cause I support is giving sick kids video games.

They have a large and cheap labor force. Sooner or later they will get unions and an expensive labor force. Every economic system starts out like China, Workers will sooner or later revolt, when they figure out there are a million of them to just one employee. Funny how the masses can be controlled by one single person or a small group.

Right, now what happens when China's economy matures and they're not willing to do our crappy manufacturing any more? As it is, developed countries are only possible because they can send undesired work to developing countries. When China grows up, it's people are going to want the same kind of wages and jobs that we have. So all our cheap chinese crap is going to get orders of magnitude more expensive.
Maybe Africa will shape up, and we can our shitty crap made there for a few decades. But eventually we're going to run out of developing nations to outsource to. I'm not sure what happens then.

India is the big one right now, some day Mexico will get there. There are enough countries to go on indefinitely. Remember, some will backslide also.

I think a goat and a pint of milk is a very fair weekly wage for assembling iPods. Plus a childs hands are ideal for assembling small electronics.holaback wrote:I hate everything that country stands for and don't want to support their cheap/poor/slave/child labor etc.

I agree that we should not be so attached to China. What would happen if we were to get into a conflict with each other or if China were to take out on a sinister plot? It would be much better if we could be more self-sufficient or at least try to strengthen the countries that are not so controversial.
