Any retro type pizza places left in your city/town add pics

by mas Thu Dec 13, 2012 5:51 pm

I was just eating some little ceasers with the family and I don't have them in my city anymore but does anyone have that old retro family owned pizza palor/hangout with the old cd jukebox, arcade games in the corner and the pizza guy was good to the neighborhood and friendly customer service?
The last "true" pizza place that I remember was when I was a kid and we bought pizza by the slice. The old man would give us soda with the red coke cups and a slice if we folded pizza boxes for him. I do rememberseeing people drinking beer with thier order also. Hell for that I remember papa gino's selling beer also. He had two arcade games. Mat mania and a cocktaill cabinet of ms pac man. Leaving our bikes by the corner and playing those games to death eating pizza on a friday night.
I don't have anyhthing like that anymore but I was just wondering if anyone have a pizza place that they always go to or like I just mentioned or any pics would even be better. I just hope that people like pizza hut or papa gino's didn't put all the family pizzeria's out of buisness.

This restaurant:

http://www.fuelpizza.com/locations/The_Original_FUEL_on_Central

is within walking distance from my home, and it has a beautiful Ms. Pac-Man cocktail table in addition to those great red-plastic pizza place soda glasses.

This one:

is a little more "old-school" (i.e., wood-paneling, sconces, etc.), and is worth visiting for the atmosphere alone. (Unfortunately, the pizza is OK at best...good sandwhiches, though.) It also - most unfortunately - does not feature any old arcade cabinets.

There are plenty of others around town, but I do not visit them as much...

Plenty of them here in Denver. I love it.
I'm still not sure whether I'm a kid or a squid now.

I haven't been in one like that since the mid to late 90s. :(

One was a Pizza Hut (chain I know) with the red roof, trapezoid windows, and the cubby with a few arcade games. I played Undercover Cops after that meal.

Another was a lager buffet type place, but they had about a dozen arcade machines in there too.

There is a bunch near me.

Fuzzys pizza down mason is one I go to occassionally.

there are many other family like pizza parlors, but they dont necessarily have arcades.

I also used to go to Pizza Italia in San Antonio when I lived there which has that same atmosphere and serves beer!

Valentino's Pizza

Right on the square in San Marcos, TX. Great old school place, all wood, and it has always had a college kid/late night afterparty feel. Red plastic cups that smell funny, draft beer and soda in bottles. Has a very nice Pac Man cocktail cab, a Crystal castle cab, and a Gradius Cab, all up and running well.

And the food is really good.

wood paneling + red plastic sups + beer + functional Gradius cabinet = win

That place sounds great.

Oh yeah. It is. Not sure who owns it, but its mostly run by college kids, the majority of whom are one of the following: stoners; art majors; "hipsters"; metal heads; people who aren't cool in high school but are in college.

Its a great place, and 16 inch pizzas are really great.

TJ's Pizza in Biddeford, Maine. Retro (50s style) with jukebox. Not sure of they have arcades anymore.

This thread reminds me of better times. My local joint shut down about 12 years ago.
