Well, it is related to a dish named "Shit-o". Sorry to hear it didn't work out.

Not really, shito is the 'fishy' tomato sauce that goes with it.

Anyways, I think kenkey is very much an acquired taste, which to my personal experience is the case with a lot of African food. It smells a bit like gluhwein, and has a pretty sour taste. Kenkey is fermented dough made with mais flour and wrapped in fresh banana or corn leaves, so the sour taste was to be expected. Unfortunately, I don't think I will ever acquire the taste to like this...

Still glad I tried it... :)

By the way, I asked them the name of the avocados they sell.

Their reply: African ones...

Made a compound butter for our baked potatoes tonight. Butter, a smidgen of olive oil, fresh chive, basil, rosemary, and a fairy dust of red pepper.

My wife loves them, but there is something about baked potatoes as a meal that I don't like. And that thing is that I want a steak to go with it.

Raisins. But last night I discovered that my Kroger has expanded its international food selection to include alot of Indian food ingredients. So this weekend we will be trying Crockpot Chicken Vindaloo and homemade pompadoms. Ill be buying chutney though...
