Can we talk Space Invaders ports?
There's a million of them. I currently have the vanilla GB port. But I'm just wondering what are some favorite versions -- and why?
Re: Can we talk Space Invaders ports?
One of my fav's is Space Invaders Extreme.. its fast paced and loads of fun.

Re: Can we talk Space Invaders ports?
I played Extreme on PSP. I did enjoy it, though I feel like it was too departed from the original in a sense. But I will say that the fast pacing was nice. The original is just so slow (I mean the controls).
Has anyone played the GBA version?

I personally, like that Atari 2600 version, but then again I've never played any others.
Re: Can we talk Space Invaders ports?
The 2600 version is pretty good, if a bit chunky. I do like Extreme myself. Usually if I want space invaders I just emulate the arcade on MAME. Then I ask myself wtf I'm doing and load up galaxian or galaga.
One port that's surprisingly bad is the Atari 800 version. There are no bunkers. That just blows my mind. And the aliens enter from a structure on the left side of the screen, instead of just starting the level at the top of the screen. Dunno why they changed it so much.
I know there were releases of space invaders for the Genesis, PSX, and N64, and probably a few other consoles. Haven't had much experience with any of them though.

@Hatta, I know I always end up playing Galaga instead too, haha.
Re: Can we talk Space Invaders ports?
I've got the Saturn Port, PS2 port and Famicom port, used to own the TI-99/4A and Super Famicom ports and apparently I have the 2600 port floating around somewhere.
I love the PS2 port. I had every version imaginable and looks great!

Re: Can we talk Space Invaders ports?
Can anyone tell me which of these ports let you go all the way to the side of the screen and which don't? Like on the 2600 version, you can't go all the way to the edge, but the enemies can, so you can't shoot them until they move.
Re: Can we talk Space Invaders ports?
My favorite is Extreme, but the Japanese TG16 Fukkatsu no Hi / Space Invaders + is really cool as well.

I like the PS2 Anniversary edition for the history.
The 5200 is okay too with unique animated graphics, kill that washing machine!

The worst one has got to be this one, Space Raiders on the Cube.
Modern graphics sacrificing Retro play to the extreme.
Okay, Okay, I bought this one for the novelty of it.

Jane stop this crazy thing! I keep shooting and shooting and shooting, nothing changes ...........
Now where was that post tooting new game consoles with great graphics and criticizing the 2600?
