Does anyone have any tattoos?

I don't plan on getting any tattoos. If I become a criminal, I don't want any distinguishable marks. My grandfather told me that and has always lived by it.

that's... slightly creepy but probably good advice.

i have one tattoo on my right calf, of calvin, from calvin and hobbes, screaming. it kinda looks like this but his arms are outstretched to the side, not above his head:

I don't have any yet, but I'm planning on getting my first one really soon.
I've got to finalize the design.

It's going to be a circle, and on top of it with its roots hanging down will be Yggdrasil.

To quote a stand-up joke from Roseanne:

"I'm all for kids expressing themselves as long as it is not verbally."

I've seen some amazing tattoos, but they aren't for me. I've had some incredible moments in my life, but nothing that I need to be constantly reminded of.

Well I don't plan on being a criminal any time soon. And I really like tattoos (it's not for everyone, it's just what I enjoy).

Now I make sure to put tattoos on places that will be covered by normal work attire. Nothing on my face lower arms or that sort.

Strangely I never really thought about it, but I actually have quite a few. I never really realized it. My best friend is a tattoo artist though and she has put quite a few things on me.

I don't have pictures of all of them though.

1) I have the names of my family on my wrists. Now I said that I don't get them on lower arms, but these are the only ones that don't come under that rule. They are the names of my deceased family. Left wrist reads Kim and Dana (step mom and uncle), and my right Otto (my grandpa), M.E.E. (my dads initials) and Ian (my little brother). There deaths occured in a very special point of my life where I kind of made my rebirth from my drug addled days... so I give all of them respect for it via these tattoos (with no offense to the rest of the people in my family who also passed, its just these 5 were very influential in shaping me).

2) When my friend was first apprenticing she had to do some test ink on people. So me and her friend Kacey elected ourselves. Free ink!!! I got these 3 wooden dolls hanging from a hook on my left leg.

3) My friend Adny and I made a "jail gun" at home for hoohas. He tattooed a bunch of math symbols on my left leg in red.

4) When I moved to L.A. I stopped off in Vero and had my friend tattoo a naked picture of herself sitting over a stove smoking... and sign it.

as for the rest I have pictures:

this I got for laughs. I thought it was funny, and seeing as it was something I said quite frequently it was very fitting. Really it is a prime example of my attitude.

and... this my friend and I drew into a table at a party one night. I loved it so much that we had to put it on me. When she was going to get her first job she had to do a grey wash piece to get the job... and this was it. As you can tell this is her very early stuff and her skill has greatly improved since.

and this is the most recent piece done on my back. My friend took a bunch of my drawings of hands (I love drawing hands) and mashed them together into this piece. It's not finished yet though, we have one more session to do to finish it. Some darker shading, and a part not visible in this photo on has line work done, and needs to be finished.

I've also always wanted to get a Sega MasterSystem controller tattooed on me in black and white (and rather stylized looking). I've drawn several renditions of it... but never gotten it quite right yet. Furthermore whenever the idea comes up in topic with Heidi (my tattoo artist friend), she smacks me and tells me she'd cut the very skin from my body where it lays.

Though really she has no room to speak if you've seen her tats.

This her and her shop's site:

I've always thought that getting a tattoo was like deciding to wear the same piece of clothing every day for the rest of your life. This mindset has kept me from getting a tattoo.
