Help me bring Google's broadband project to my city

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Help me bring Google's broadband project to my city

Post by RadarScope1 »

OK, way off topic and yes, it's a bit shameless, but I never do this sort of thing here and, hey, I thought my fellow RB members might be able to help a brother out with a couple of clicks.

You may have heard about Google's idea to select a U.S. city to test an open, ultra high speed fiber optic network with up to 1 gigabit per second speeds. (http://www.google.com/appserve/fiberrfi) I'm part of the official team trying to bring it to my city. So, if you're not in a city already going for this and don't mind joining yet another arbitrary Facebook group, maybe give it a look? Mods, feel free to lock the thread if you don't approve. Won't hurt my feelings at all.

You mean Google, KS?
The web's first video game public library! http://videogameexperiment.com rents all games for free and sells them for less than Ebay and Amazon! Plus we take anything in on trade-in.

I've got a better idea.

In my hometown (well, technically, the whole of the Outer Banks, and possibly the Nags Head/Kitty Hawk/Kill Devil Hills area and the township of Manteo), all we have in terms of high speed is shitty cable broadband from Charter Cable OR Embarq, the latter of which has some problems.

So... how do I get this for my area? I mean, the major area I just described is actually more or less the size of a major metropolitan area in terms of population.

You can nominate your community right there on Google's form. It's pretty easy. But they're gonna pick a city that submits a formal nomination.

And Topeka has some nice gimmicks going. But I don't think that's gonna cut it. We'll see!
