Al-Anon Meetup - mjmjr25's place Sept. 26-30, 2013

Greetings,

As some of you know, I am hosting a meetup at my place in September of this year, Thursday 9.26.13--->Monday 9.30.13.

There will food and lodging accommodations provided by me; however those who attend will need to arrange for transportation.

Transportation:
-Airport in Duluth (30 min away); I can pick you up
-Airport in Minneapolis (2.5 hr away); I can pick up a group, but an airport shuttle bus to Carlton (10 min away) is cheaper and more convenient.
-Amtrak Train Station in Duluth (15 min away, can pick you up)
-Personal vehicle to my door

-Custom Cab (22" monitor; horizontal fighters for DC / SAT, SNES beat 'em ups)
-Custom Sit or Stand CMVS 2 player setup w/sticks; (27" LCD Monitor; horizontal)
-Cozy Sac 4p setup for N64 / GCN (40" LCD TV)
-Consolized Atomiswave 2P setup on 13" Samsung GX Gamer's TV
-Bartop / Tabletop Rotatable 20" LCD Monitor hooked to 2P Sigma Raijin (PCB's)
-32" CRT hooked up to SAT/DC for Lightgun games (in garage)
-NBA Jam 4P Cab (in garage)

Things to do:
Fighting Competitions (Tournament Style)
SHMUP Competitions (Hi-Score Tourney Style)
Beat 'em up Team Competitions (Fewest Credits to clear as a team)
Puzzle Game Competitions
Coyote Hunt on my property (Team or individual)
1/2 day trip along North Shore of Lake Superior
Board Games (I have most Euro games released in the last 10 years, and a few fantasy flight games)

Weird things to note:
A deal killer for some, i'm sure, but no booze allowed, sorry.
My kids will be here most of the time (might do a sleepover or two at Grandmas)
If you can only make it for a day or two, that's cool too, shoot me a pm
There's plenty of room on the floor or on couches, we can also setup a tent if desired, there is a hotel 7 minutes away if preferred.
My wife is pretty firm about no more cabs in the house, so unless I get my shed w/electric built this spring / summer, that setup won't be ready for this years meet.

While I spend a lot of time talking and collecting games, the reality is with my schedule and other responsibilities, I need to have dedicated time set aside like this to actually enjoy the hobby from an actual "playing" games perspective. If you are like minded, maybe this is an event for you

Mike is a great host when i visited last year. you guys will have a blast....but going home fingers numb.

i'm still not sure if i can make it this year, but i will certainly be visiting again in the future.

Seriously though I'd be down and if anyone wants to look into flying into Minneapolis and riding up with me that might be an option since I would guess flights into msp international would be cheaper then flights straight to Duluth.

edit after reading the op fully I now feel stupid for the byob line. Either way if I end up having to drive up there's no way I'm drinking.

stupid me and my slow editing. If I am invited I can start looking into setting up arrangements for people here to save them money I would need another month before I can have concrete plans of what I would do up there but most likely I would be staying at a hotel in Duluth somewhere with my girlfriend.

I can easily fit 3 other people and any of their stuff in my car as long as no one is trying to bring cabs with them.

I dunno pm me Mike and we can try to figure things out because I'd like to be able to get as many people up to you as possible but at the same time I probably won't be able to hang out for as long as everyone wants.
