Looking at the reception of other Atelier games on PS4 i was losing my hope regarding the series but i'been playing Lulua and it seems that they are finally getting back to the track. It's not E&L but it's closer to it in many regards than the other games after it.

Still trucking through FFIV. Spent a couple hours grinding in the Esper Cave before going into the Sealed Cave. Manged to beat the Demon Wall on my first try though, so that was nice! It was a damn close fight though. Still not enjoying the game a TON, but it's still alright. I'm far enough in and pretty close to the end, I really just wanna see it through and done with that this point. The Super Famicom original definitely has a lot of really dickish design choices I'm glad they removed for the SNES localization though. Mechanically this one is just such a slog compared to the more simplified SNES version, that it's making a game I'm not digging too much in the first place that much harder to stick with.

I'm playing Fire Emblem Three Houses. I picked the Black Eagles house. Having a lot of fun. I have not played a Fire Emblem game since the Wii one Radiant Dawn. It feels like a smash up of Final Fantasy Tactics with Persona (except your the teacher). :)

This is more an ARPG but I'm currently replaying Nox for PC.
It's probably my 10th playthrough of this game which I always seems to go back to once every couple of years.
Started with the Wizard's route but I might do a playthrough with the other two classes as well.
I definitely recommend trying it out if you like ARPGs and this one I think aged particularly well compared to other retro games of the genre.

GENTLEMEN!

It has been over a year since our intrepid heroes entered the temple of the Darkmoon priests and slew the mighty Red Dragon. Even longer since they plunged the depths to exterminate the evil Beholder threat. Now it is time for a new quest, to enter the incredible ruins of Myth Drannor and bring waste to the lich that now rules it with an undying skeletal fist. It's time for...

...EYE OF THE BEHOLDER III: ASSAULT ON MYTH DRANNOR!
Image

Obviously I'll be bringing along my party of ne'er-do-wells from the previous journeys:

ACK, the mighty and bloodthirsty Fighter, armed with a quick wit and an incredibly dashing porno mustache.
BONE, intrepid Paladin of the Church of 2600, who researches ancient tomes far older than any mere NES fan dare go.
EXHUM, mischievous Rogue, willing to stab any of his party members in the back if it means another quarter to go play Galaga.
NOISE, the cowardly Wizard, who enters every battle with a girlish shriek of "Not in the face!" Literally. Every. Battle.

Will our brave heroes survive? Will they defeat the lich? Will they go on to further adventures?

Well, no. This is the end of the trilogy, so either way, no further adventures. BUT STILL, ONWARD RACKETBOY SOLDIERS TO GLORY!

Excellent. Give yourself willingly to the pain train, for I shall grind you up and use your bones to build my tracks.

I would be curious to know if the thief remains useful in these upper level adventures. I know many games focus on enemies that thieves can't backstab, like undead.

You also need more Maru in your party, but it's clearly too late for that. More the pity.

Don't worry, Maru is always welcome in my Might & Magic parties.

Truthfully, the thief is only necessary for very specific things; backstab was never really a factor for him since you don't easily sneak up on enemies and only your front line can actually fight in melee. It's more about picking locks at key moments, and that's it. Instead, I favor him as a range combatant. The game uses your location and direction to indicate who can get hit in combat, so I tend to stick the rogue in the back next to an additional tank of some kind, so I can use range and have some meatshielding to prevent the softer magic users from suddenly getting smacked because I didn't pay attention to my surroundings.

I'm looking forward to see how you feel this compares to the first two, as this wasn't done by Westwood; they'd since split off to make Lands of Lore instead.
