Battle network!!! I do like your idea more though haha!

Yeah, that's probably what would happen if it ever got made.
Not a bad option really; probably what Battle Chip Challenge should have been.

While I do like the Battle Network games, I really can only play them in short spurts. For all it's variety in chips, I tire of the battle interface relatively quickly. I crave the old Action-Platform style Mega Man (let me jump and slide).
Having each unit shine at different times depending on enemy weaknesses would be neat too.

There was Birth of the Federation which is a half-decent 4X strategy game.

I haven't played that one (though definitely need to try it), but I think a tactics game vs strategy would be cool.

A Forza/Gran Turismo strategy game. Kidding

So if we are talking about a franchise going over to a tactical setting then I would say maybe Star Wars with a battle system akin to KOTOR.

Another one would be Rainbow Six like what they did to Ghost Recon on the 3DS. That game was like an Advance Wars game the platform never got (highly recommend it btw). Rainbow Six would have a breach and clear mechanic that would require positioning characters to rescue hostages and would need to be completed in a certain number of turns.

I'd like to see South Park's take on tactical gameplay since they took that Mario RPG template and did well with that.
